Šenkyříková, Nikol ; Pokorný, Ondřej (advisor) ; Petrů, Tomáš (referee)
The Bachelor thesis deals with the development and changes of Balinese vernacular architecture in the 20th century. This thesis is supported by my own field research which was realized through semi- structured interviews. The main aim of this work is to objectively assess the extent to which during the last century the concept of a traditional architecture on the island of Bali has been distinguished from its original form. I focused not only to changes of construction but also in terms of religion and the relationship between human and his dwelling. For comparison, I have chosen four houses from different time periods. The first of these houses is maintained in its original form and works as an open-air museum. The second and third house are still retaining the original construction but the design has been modernized and there are also some innovations that undermine the principles based on traditional methodology Asta Kosala Kosali. The last building is a modern town house which has been already significantly diverged but also there are some original features, for example decorations or sacred spaces. Comparing these four objects I am referring to changes in terms of Asta Kosala Kosali, thereby the concept of the traditional Balinese house brings me to the current situation of construction of Balinese...

Hankeová, Kateřina ; Petrů, Tomáš (advisor) ; Pokorný, Ondřej (referee)
This thesis is dedicated to traditional Indonesian wayang theater and its change in modern times. The goal is to describe this change and appraise the actual state of this ancient theater, which deals mainly with traditional epics and thus, very old views of the world, emotions and life itself. Wayang gives us a very valuable insight to the past, and points out the timelessness of human feelings and desires. How do people in the modern globalising world and in a society where Islam is becoming increasingly radical, perceive the tradition of wayang? In the first part I focus on the description of puppets, its characters, dalang, repertoire of the theater, course of the performance, its cultural-religious context, rituals connected with the theater, music accompanying the performance and also the scene itself. In the second part I focus on the summary of answers, results and analysis of the research from local inhabitants' perception of wayang theater. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Integration Courses: Last Stage of Swedish Efforts to Incorporate Immigrants
Pokorný, Ondřej ; Rovná, Lenka (advisor) ; Hořejšová, Tereza (referee)
The diploma thesis Integration Courses: Last Stage of Swedish Efforts to Incorporate Immigrants analyzes integration arrangements in the context of the evolution of Swedish integration policies. Through theoretical models of incorporation the author argues that use of these courses is a consequence of various factors with a lack of immigrants' incorporation and increasing welfare state activation as the most significant. The process of welfare state activation does not focus exclusively on the immigrants, nevertheless, in the policy area of immigrant integration some of the activation features are most visible. The modern state delegates much more duties on individuals who can not rely on its protecting hands as they were used to earlier. As the state requires more from all its citizens, immigrants are expected to strive for their integration more pro-actively. The participation in the integration courses belongs to one of the duties the immigrants must accept. The Swedish approach is, however, a bit specific, since the courses' participation is not mandatory for all immigrants but a targeted group of newcomers. Moreover, the courses differ considerably from the general tendency in Western Europe with their stressed focus on labour-market related integration measures. Together with a language...
