Replacing heat from fossil fuels by energy from waste
Ženatý, Sebastian ; Smejkalová, Veronika (referee) ; Putna, Ondřej (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deal with the topic of waste treatment and possibility of its energy utilization. Methods of waste treatment are presented in the introduction research part. It is mainly focused on the environmental impact. Subsequently it is concentrated on energy recovery facility, the environmental aspect of which is again the main focus. The practical part starts with a description of a tool suitable for modeling of heating and power plants networks. This tool is used for the calculation of specified heating network in the second practical section. Finally, the results are evaluated and the alternatives of the plant operation are proposed.
Models for network flow identification
Smejkalová, Veronika ; Kůdela, Jakub (referee) ; Pavlas, Martin (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is focused on development of a mathematical model of network flow in waste managment. The theoretical part of thesis deals with graph theory, network flow and optimization. The next chapter introduces the mathematical model. The model was compiled with the use of Information systems of waste management. The data are very often burdened by error. The task of the model is revelation of those errors to make the data useful. This thesis also includes suggestions for further development.
Analysis of traffic data related to risks in waste management
Vaníček, Filip ; Smejkalová, Veronika (referee) ; Popela, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to prepare real data for subsequent optimization of the collection plan using advanced VRP („Vehicle Routing Problem “) algorithms. The diploma thesis is motivated by the project Strategic Partnership for Environmental Technologies and Energy Production. The output focuses on indeterminate factors that have a major risk for subsequent operations. These are economic, environmental and social risks (overcrowded containers). Another result is the implementation and processing of the time-consuming passage of all streets, the estimation of the speed of the collection (garbage) truck for the subsequent optimization of the route and the estimation of the mean value of the filling of individual collection containers.
ZBROJOVKA FACTORY BRNO
Smejkalová, Veronika ; Kristiánová,, Katarína (referee) ; Havliš, Karel (advisor)
This diploma project deals with a post-industrial factory area Zbrojovka Brno. It proposes a strategy for its revitalisation and development. On contrary to official studies of one time reconstruction and creation of a residential site, the proposal brings an idea of step by step transformation into a multifunctional city quarter with preservation and new use of original industrial architecture. The strategy has four main phases, which are characterised by addition of functions, metamorphoses of public space and opening of the area and connecting it to neighbourhoods. After the four phases, the area should become a healthy and sustainable city with a compact structure with mixed functions, high quality public spaces linked with greenery, sustainable system of transportation and energetic concept and with use of community sharing.
Optimization models in waste management
Šmídová, Zlata ; Smejkalová, Veronika (referee) ; Šomplák, Radovan (advisor)
The master’s thesis deals with the application of optimization models in the waste management. The analysis of the current state, the estimation of information about the flow of a specific waste, the estimation of the probable processing site and the method of processing is developed by a suitable approach based on sophisticated mathematical methods. The mathematical model, which was created by merging the two already existing models, brings results suitable also for forecasting the state of the waste management. The output is a comprehensive computational tool that was tested on data from the year 2015. The results for mixed municipal waste (catalogue number 20 03 01), bulky waste (catalogue number 20 03 07) and waste with catalogue number 19 08 05, i.e. residual sludge from sewage plants, were processed in MS Excel.
Waste flows modelling and assessment of their treatment
Kolátor, Matyáš ; Smejkalová, Veronika (referee) ; Pluskal, Jaroslav (advisor)
The thesis deals with the description, analysis and reconstruction of waste evidence. Nowadays, more and more emphasis is put on the issue of waste management and its efficient use. Legislation has set demanding targets for increased waste recovery and the development of a circular economy. In order to achieve these objectives, it is necessary to plan and organize the structure of waste management strategically. Important decisions in the field of waste management are based on data and the production and processing of waste. The quality of waste data has a major impact on the success of the process. The aim of this thesis is to describe the system of record, but also the possibilities of improving and reconstructing invalid data. The core of the work is the testing and improvement of a data reconciliation tool REVEDATO developed at the Institute of Process Engineering. The computational tool is based on the mathematical apparatus of data balancing, for which the correct definition of the weights is crucial, which will be the main subject of the work.
Advanced Prognostic Models in Waste Management
Smejkalová, Veronika ; Procházka,, Vít (referee) ; Slavík,, Jan (referee) ; Pavlas, Martin (advisor)
The issued Circular economy package defines the measures for the transition from a linear economy to a circular economy. The specific targets are implemented in the legislation of the EU Member States. Waste production forecasts are key information for modifying existing infrastructure to allow a smooth transition to a circular economy. This work presents a universal approach to waste production forecasting using optimization models including data preparation, calculation and processing into a suitable form for users. The forecast emphasizes the preparatory phases and the clean-up of input data from anomalies. The modeling principle is based on trend modeling in historical data with subsequent correction to restore the links between territorial divisions and waste fractions. Forecast uncertainty is described by confidence intervals constructed using a bootstrap approach. The impact of specific measures on the form of waste management can be modeled using projection. The presented methodology is developed in general and is a suitable basis for strategic planning at the local, national and supranational levels.
Legal regulation of economic management including book-keeping of the association of unit owners
Šmejkalová, Veronika ; Zahradníčková, Marie (advisor) ; Horáček, Tomáš (referee)
- Legal regulation of economic management including book- keeping of the association of unit owners The thesis aims to provide summary of legal rules regulating the economic management of the association of unit owners (hereinafter referred to as "association"). Economic management, the key term, is treated in a very broad sense, i.e. including legal regulations addressing related areas of accounting, salaries and taxes. Comparison of former and current legal regulation lies in the focus of the thesis, also included is an assessment of practical impacts of changes induced by recent private law recodification. The thesis also brings quite a few practical examples, showing application of both former and current legal regulation. The thesis comprises seven chapters. The first, prologue chapter, presents the object and goal of the thesis. The second chapter presents definitions of general legal terms used in the area of joint ownership of dwellings. The general term economic management of the association is also presented here as comprising two separate areas, those areas being assets management and cash management. The third chapter deals with association's assets management, focusing on administration of entrusted assets, i.e. of the land plots and common elements of the building. Also presented in...

Analysis of municipal solid waste in practice
Wildová, Kristýna ; Smejkalová, Veronika (referee) ; Gregor, Jiří (advisor)
The main purpose of the submitted diploma thesis is detailed research of studies and methodologies that deal with the analysis of the municipal waste composition, with focus on residual solid waste and transfer of acquired knowledge into practise. The research is focused on key parameters and procedures of studies and methodologies that took place in the Czech Republic, and also abroad. The identified information and procedures are properly summarized and evaluated. The theoretical findings were applied in the analysis of the municipal solid waste composition in a field work. The thesis is also focused on the practical feasibility of MSW analysis and related tasks. The data obtained during field work analysis of MSW are evaluated at the end of the thesis.
