Distribution and estimation of abundance of hazel grouse (Bonasa bonasia) in the Jeseníky Mts. and Rychlebské hory Mts
Koubek, Petr ; Novotný, L. ; Červený, Jaroslav
Hazel grouse (Bonasa bonasia) is the most abundant living galliform bird in the Jeseníky Mts. Since 1984, changes of its abundance, data on biotop preference, amount of chickens and food composition have been followed. The study area is composed of the eastern slopes of Pradid Mt. up to Vrbno pod Pradidem (about 3000 ha). Data about its distribution and abundance in the entire area of Hrubý and Nízký Jeseník Mts. and also Rychlebské hory Mts. (districts Šumperk, Bruntál, Jeseník) were gathered by questionaires in individual hunting grounds where the occurrence of hazel grouse is regular but also in hunting grounds where the occurrence may be assumed.
Preliminary results of releasing project for capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus) in the Šumava Mts
Červený, Jaroslav ; Bufka, L. ; Hlavatá, A. ; Koubek, Petr
Releasing of artificially reared capercaillies to nature is one of the possibilities of saving or increasing free-living populations. However, it is usually considered to be a last chance for saving a disappearing species, sometimes even without looking at the state of the biotop.
Development of abundance of hazel grouse (Bonasa bonasia) in the Šumava Mts
Červený, Jaroslav ; Bufka, L. ; Bürger, P.
In the past, the hazel grouse was o common bird but not as abundant as the capercillie in the Šumava Mts. Currently, the hazel grouse is the only species of the Šumava Mts. of tetraonid birds that is not directly endangered.
Development of abundance of black grouse (Tetrao tetrix) in the Šumava Mts
Bürger, P. ; Červený, Jaroslav ; Bufka, L.
After 1990, another decrease of black grouse occurred in the Šumava Mts. In 1994, only 306 individuals were found what represents a decrease by 47.8
Development of abundance of capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus) in the Šumava Mts
Bufka, L. ; Červený, Jaroslav ; Bürger, P.
General marked decrease of abundance of capercaillie population in the second half of the 20th century has afflicted the Šumava region less dramatically than the other regions of the Czech Republic. However, at the turn of the 70s and 80s, capercailli disappeared from the foothills of the Šumava Mts., and even the part of the population inhabiting the southeastern part of the Šumava Mts, came close to extinction.
Current knowledge on distribution, population dynamics and feeding ecology of some mustelids in the Czech Republic
Koubek, Petr ; Červený, Jaroslav ; Bufka, L.
Although mustelids comprise the most abundant group of predators in the Czech Republic, they are one of the least studied groups of our mammals. Since there is an absence of data necessary for their protection or the level of management, data about for ecology and abundance of oine marten (Martes martes), stone marten (M. foina), western polecat (Mustela putorius), steppe polecat (M. eversmannii), weasel (M. nivalis) and stoat (M. erminea) were synthesized.
