Application of backstroke to a patient with ankylosing spondylitis
Horničárová, Eva ; Břečková, Gabriela (advisor) ; Čechovská, Irena (referee)
Title: Application of backstroke to a patient with ankylosing spondylitis Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of the application of backstroke with chosen parameters to a patient with ankylosing spondylitis. To compare the effectiveness of this swimming exercise programme with a traditional exercise programme held in a gymnasium. This work investigates whether it is suitable to recommend backstroke swimming to patients with ankylosing spondylitis as an effective form of physical exercise for improving range of movements and reducing pain. Methods: The effectiveness of a 9 week long swimming programme was evaluated using a range of movements of the glenohumeral and coxal joints and of the spine. The presence of pain was measured by the Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Diasese Activity Index. The same parameters were measured for another patient with the similar activity of the disease who took part in group exercises in a gymnasium. At the end of the programmes the parameters were compared and evaluated. Results: The swimming programme has improved the patient's posture and has strengthened back muscles. Pain was reduced in some parts of the back and also general pain measured by BASDAI. The range of movements of both glenohumeral joints improved in all measured directions. The range of movements...

The influence of water activity on respiration behaviour of women after breast ablation
Černá, Tereza ; Čechovská, Irena (advisor) ; Břečková, Gabriela (referee)
Title: The influence of water activity on respiration behaviour of women after breast ablation. Aim: We aim to design and verify a programme of water exercises for women after breast ablation which would have a positive influence on their health. In our pedagogical experiment we want to discover the effect of breathing exercises in water environment on respiration capacity and strength of respiration muscles (inspiration and expiration muscles). Methods: Sociological research was used in order to find suitable probands. The examination of functions of respiration muscles was used in order to evaluate strength of respiration muscles. We measured strength of respiration muscles (inspiration PI max and expiration muscles PE max). Spirometry testing, volume-time curve and a flow-volume loop, set values for inspiration (VCinsp) and expiration (VCexp). The examination was carried out in Krajska zdravotni a.s, Usti nad Labem at the department of Functional Diagnostic. Results were evaluated by statistic program STATIS TICA. We used describing statistics, categorization, data analysis, t-tests, Wilcoxon and Mann Whitney testing. Conclusion: Water activity related to breast exercises had a positive influence on values of PI max, VC insp a VC exp which demonstrate results of Wilcoxon test. Some differences...

Search out in the literacy a sum up the potential of hydrokinesiotherapy for persons suffering from cerebrospinal multiple sclerosis. Propose a program of exercise activities in water, which would support overall rehabilitation for the cerebrospinal multiple sclerosis patients. Methods: In the form of literacy search summarize the knowledge of cerebrospinal multiple sclerosis and find out the possibilities of hydrokinesiotherapy and its relevance in treatment of this disease. Influence of dolphin style on the spine
Šenková, Martina ; Smolík, Petr (advisor) ; Břečková, Gabriela (referee)
Severe idiopathic scoliosis often represents a therapeutic problem of how to influence a patient with these substantial spinal deformities for a long period of time. There are many possibilities to therapeutically affect the patient at the start of the therapy; but in order to prevent the defect's progression it is necessary to employ a long-term and even permanent care. The aim of this thesis is to demonstrate the possibility of influencing the position of the spine through dolphin style in the aquatic environment. Out of the usual rehabilitation facility the child may execute this training throughout the year while at the swimming pool. Children are very playful, and this swimming technique will be certainly appreciated during the summer holidays while swimming or snorkeling. Swimming is an ideal activity for engaging majority of muscle groups. Choice of functional activity was also made on the general view of the functional activities such as swimming with a large percentage involvement of muscle groups for the physical activity from the perspective of individuals with scoliotic posture. Keywords: idiopathic scoliosis, constitutional hyper-mobility, dolphin style
Excluded localities in the media discourse
BŘEČKOVÁ, Gabriela
This diploma thesis is focused on identifying the image of excluded localities in media discourse. During the recent few years, the media have been forming the views of the majority population of the Roma minority, while the concept of social exclusion in the Czech Republic has been used most often in relation to the localities inhabited mostly by the members of the Roma minority. Excluded localities have become a very hot topic in the media and the media have been presenting excluded localities as problematic in terms of unemployment, poverty, maximum use of social welfare by their inhabitants, housing problems, crime, organized crime, disorder and problems with school attendance of the children.
Support for Romany Secondary School Students
BŘEČKOVÁ, Gabriela
The theoretical part of this thesis is dealing with the differences in education in Romany families as compared to majority families, the education of the Romany minority, educational opportunities of Romany students and inequalities in the transition to high schools as compared with the majority population. Additionally, it describes the reasons for early drop out of Romany students from secondary schools and the concept of the Support is defined, as well as its changes that had taken place over the years till June 2011. The objective of this thesis is to identify the effectiveness of the Support of socially disadvantaged Romany secondary school students and college students. To obtain the necessary data, the method of qualitative research was chosen, the technique of semi-structured interview supplemented by secondary data analysis. The research group consisted of eight representatives of secondary schools in the South Bohemian Region County who asked for the Support in the past. The research results show that all Romany students apply for the Support at the outset of their studies, most of them repeatedly and separately for each period. If a Romany student meets the conditions for granting the Support, he/she must meet the conditions for the payment of the Support. The subsidy granted is paid retroactively in December, for the period from September to December, and in June, for the period from January to June. The unused finance is returned to the Ministry of Education. At the same time, the research suggests that completing the application form for the Support is not easy. The number of Romany students who applied for the Support from January 2005 to June 2011 shows a downward trend. The reasons for not using the Support included, in more than half of Romany children, an incorrect estimate of education costs and also a failure to submit the relevant documents for the retroactive payments; in 21 % of the cases the Support was not used due to drop out of the student, and the rest was due to unexcused absence. It is expected that this thesis could serve as an information source for the general public because the Support, also called positive discrimination, is a powerful motivational tool for socially disadvantaged Romany students for whom it is not easy to continue with their secondary education. At the same time, this thesis could become a source of research for other regions too.
