Odezva kalorimetru Tilecal na miony
Javůrek, Tomáš ; Davídek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Dolejší, Jiří (referee)
Title: Tile Calorimeter response to muons Author: Tomas Javurek Department: Institute of Particle and Nuclear Physics Supervisor: RNDr. Tomas Davidek, Ph.D. Supervisors e-mail address: davidek@ipnp.troja.mff.cuni.cz Abstract: The aim of present work is investigation of Tile calorimeter (subde- tector of ATLAS experiment) response to muons. Muons can help to monitor spatial non-linearities in this hadronic detector. Graphs of unifromities are used for these purposes i.e. dependence of dE/dx (deposited energy per unit length) on azimuthal angle φ and polar angle θ which is represented by pseu- dorapidity η. Finally the dependence of dE/dx on energy was also studied. Keywords: TileCal, muon, uniformity, energy loss
Study of cosmic muons in Tile calorimeter
Slovák, Radim ; Davídek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Drásal, Zbyněk (referee)
Main goal of this thesis is to learn about detector ATLAS, mainly about his hadron calorimeter Tile Calorimeter. Next step is get knowledge about processing date with program ROOT. It is necessary to test and monitor detector for example by muons from cosmic rays before his initiation. We analysed real experimental date from single module of Tile Calorimeter here. We found out signal-to-noise ratio. Then we separed out signal and noise and we found cells which muons flew through.
Úhlové korelace v rozpadech Higgsova bosonu
Pleskot, Vojtěch ; Davídek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Dolejší, Jiří (referee)
The Standard Model predicts existence of one Higgs boson with combined parity CP = +1. In MSSM there exist Higgs boson with CP = −1 in addition. The work develops one method of Higgs boson CP determination on the basis of angular correlations of pions and ρ-mesons born in cascade decay H/A → τ− τ+ → ρ− /π− ντ ρ+ /π+ ¯ντ . The calculations are done in the leading order of perturbation theory. Further, the possibility of signal (Higgs boson decay) and background (Z boson decay) differentiation is studied. The processes in question are simulated using Monte Carlo generators Pythia and Tauola. Simulation outputs are compared with calculated theoretical results. 1

Jets in pp and PbPb collisions at LHC
Rybář, Martin ; Dolejší, Jiří (advisor) ; Davídek, Tomáš (referee)
The ATLAS detector is designed primarily for proton-proton collisions, and potentially interesting events are selected by a three-level trigger system. We have studied the performance of the ATLAS trigger system for Pb+Pb collisions. A brief introduction to the heavy ion physics with focus on jets and some results from RHIC experiments are presented in first three chapters. Then we describe the ATLAS detector, its trigger system and three strategies for L1 trigger. We focus on the first level calorimeter trigger and propose modest changes to the default trigger strategy to address specific characteristics of heavy ion collisions at the LHC. Results from performance studies of proposed strategies are presented. We describe current status of L2 jet trigger algorithm designed for p+p collisions. Then we present developed algorithm with background subtraction adapted to heavy ion collisions and its performance.
Studium rekonstrukce rozpadu Higgs -> τ τ
Nováková, Jana ; Davídek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Dolejší, Jiří (referee)
Two independent methods of the Higgs boson mass reconstruction in the channel H are studied and compared in this thesis. The Higgs boson mass is usually reconstructed by means of a collinear approximation which is based on the measurement of missing energy and visible parts of tau leptons. Unknown momenta of neutrinos originating in the tau leptons decays have to be estimated. The mass peak is reconstructed as an invariant mass of the two tau leptons system. An alternative method, so-called decay length method, based on the tau lepton range measurement is studied in this paper. The secondary vertex reconstruction is the basic issue for this method as opposed to the energy measurement and calibration which are of crucial importance for the collinear approximation. The decay length method is not expected to give as precise results as the collinear approximation. However, it can be used as an independent test of the results of the collinear method.
Analysis and design of application support logistics for Cukrovary a lihovary TTD, a.s.
Davídek, Tomáš ; Novák, Radek (advisor) ; Zvěřina, Milan (referee)
The main aim of this thesis is IT support of logistics in sugar refinery Cukrovary a lihovary TTD, a.s. In the first part is an introduction of the company and sugar refinery industry. The goal of second part of thesis was achieved thorough application of optimization methods of Operation research. The third part describes requirements on the new designed system. This system will support transport supervisor in his activities. The aim of this part was achieved thorough application of Unified Process methodic.
