Novotná, Pavla ; Gála, Libor (advisor) ; Šurmanová, Michaela (referee)
The aim of this work is to prepare business process analysis of companies in the field of advocacy and to assess the support of information technology, which offers software solutions available on the Czech market. Before writing this work I first studied the essential literature concerning the management of law firms, particularly regarding the possibility of process management in these companies. Then I studied the literature on process management and modeling. After a literature search, I attended a meeting with a midsize law firm manager, who provided me with valuable information about the specifics and problems in the field. My main goal was to emphasize the uniqueness of the law firms field, where the functional management model prevails over the process management model, to design general process model, to map the key processes of the functions of the software solutions available on the Czech market and to discuss the need for or the appropriateness of introducing process management in companies in advocacy field. Chapter Theoretical background and issues of the field includes introduction to the issue of functional and process company management in the law firm field, and explains how broad concept the law firm may be, and introduces the readers with the critical factors in the implementation of process management. The reader will find here a description of various types of law firms from different angles. Process analysis is a chapter devoted to identifying and supporting key processes of law firm and to the detailed analysis of key processes. The following chapter entitled Information technology as a law firm support provides an overview of several IS specializing in the law firms and lists their common functions that are appropriate to support the processes of law firm by information technology. In the last chapter entitled Possibilities and limitations of mapping IT resources of the processes outlined one of many possible solutions to support key processes of law firm by information technologies, and discussed the limits on the introduction of process management in companies providing services in the field of advocacy, which result from the variability of these companies.
