Attitudes to smoking ban in restaurants in 2018

In September 2018 CVVM SOÚ AV ČR surveyed questions about the ban of smoking in gastronomical facilities. This press release maps basic results about the attitude to the ban before and after the introduction of the act in June 2017 and also brings the information about arguments, which Czech citizens use for giving reasons to their agreement and disagreement with the introduction of the act.
Citizens on Opportunities to Receive Education – September 2018

In the opinion poll carried out in September 2018 by the Public Opinion Research Centre, questions regarding the opportunities to receive education were included. More specifically, the questionnaire asked surveyors about their opinions towards the possibility to gain education based on one’s abilities – 74% of respondents expressed their opinion that everybody has a chance to achieve education according to his or her abilities. Moreover, respondents had to answer a question, what circumstances and personal aspects influence educational background – respondents often suppose diligence, personal abilities and desire for education to be important, when trying to get higher education. Finally, the questionnaire examined views on the creation of special schools in compulsory nine-year basic educational stage – in all cases a majority of respondents supported the creation of the considered types of school.
Evaluation of the Czech education system – September 2018

Politicians´ Interest in the Views of Citizens and Citizens' Ability to Influence the Public Sphere - February 2018

In its regular February survey the Public Opinion Research Centre further examined whether people think that politicians are interested in the views of citizens, and whether in the opinion of the Czech public, people have certain opportunities to influence the public sphere.\nRegarding the interest of politicians in the views of citizens, the vast majority (79%) of the Czech public thinks that only minority of Czech politicians is interested in people's opinion. Exactly 13% of the population believe that in the views of citizens is interested none of Czech elected politicians.\nWithin the possibilities to influence the public sphere a significant shift has not occurred in any researched sphere in comparison to the previous year.\nWhile assessing the views on politicians´ interests and the potential to influence public sphere, the results seem to be related to the assessment of living standards of respondent's household. People with good living standards tend to be more optimistic in the question whether politicians are interested in the views of citizens and are more likely to feel they can influence public sphere.
Attitudes of Czech Public to Their Jobs – June 2018

June's survey of CVVM asked questions regarding the relationship of workers to their jobs. On the one hand, the survey focused on the topics such as job satisfaction, perception of workplace climate and subjective evaluation of adequacy of earnings. On the other hand, the aim was also to determine the proportion of workers considering the possibility of changing their job and what they think about the probability of job loss.

In June survey of the Public Opinion Research Centre, citizens of the Czech Republic evaluated the activities of political parties and some institutions. Standard school classification was used for the evaluation, where the best performance is represented by number one and the worst performance by number five.
Czech society and AIDS – May 2018

In May 2018, a block of questions related to the public opinion about the disease AIDS was included in the regular survey Our Society. The Public Opinion Research Centre (CVVM) surveyed perceptions of AIDS as a problem in the Czech Republic, opinions on the involvement of the respective institutions toward the disease, and subjective feelings of endangerment by AIDS.
Czech public opinion on the rights of homosexuals – May 2018

In May 2018, CVVM included a block of questions related to tolerance of Czech society towards homosexual oriented men and women into its regular survey Our Society. At the same time, there were questions focused on the attitudes of citizens whether homosexual people should have certain rights: right to enter into a registered partnership, to marry, to adopt children from "institutions" - so-called children's homes, and to adopt the children of their partner. The highest support has gained the right to enter into a registered partnership – 74 % of respondents stated that homosexuals should have this right. We also asked whether respondents have some homosexual people among their friends or acquaintances. According to our research, 34 % of Czech citizens have homosexual friends. On the other hand, 55 % of respondents said they have none.
Citizens on conflict in Syria – April 2018

In April survey (2018) the Public Opinion Research Centre focused on the conflict in Syria. The survey examined how Czech public is interested in the story of Syria's conflict, what Czech citizens think of some possibilities for the Czech Republic to participate in the process of resolving the situation in Syria and how they perceive the impact of the conflict on Czech, European and global safety.
Opinions on European Integration – April 2018

In the opinion poll carried out in April 2018 by the Public Opinion Research Centre, questions regarding attitudes of Czech citizens towards integration in the EU were included. More specifically, the questionnaire asked surveyors about their opinion on values of democracy, equality, collaboration, tolerance, fairness, and solidarity being successfully exercised in the EU. Furthermore, respondents were asked about their views on economic, political, cultural, defense and ecological integration in the European Union. Lastly, attention was given to the belief that the EU decisions are in the interest of the Czech Republic and of the people like themselves.
