Title: Image of Austrian Society in the time of National Socialism: a Thematic Analysis of the Novel All our Games by Erika Mitterer Abstract: This diploma thesis deals with the work of the Austrian author Erika Mitterer and her experience with the ideology of the Third Reich. In the first part, I present the life and activities of the author, while putting a special emphasis on the period of National Socialism. The second part deals with the general characteristics of Mitterer's literary production. The main part of the thesis is the analysis of the novel All our Games, in which Mitterer tries to achieve a qualitative image of Austrian society during the Nazi regime. This picture is drawn by the Author using the example of a life of a fictive family. A general picture of the novel's time is constructed on the basis of the motives that are found in the book. This bachelor thesis analyzes the novel by German author Erich Kästner The Flying Classroom, where the emphasis is put on the relations between children and adults (led persons and persons leading). The work focuses on the relationship between the teacher, or educator and students, of which the story is about. The work analyzes and observes the development of these relations and uses the knowledge about the life and work of Erich Kästner, the literary historical context in which the work belongs to, the definition of literary genres and external and internal composition of the novel. The relationships between the characters of children and adults are described on the basis of these facts. The conclusion focuses on the feedback and the reception the story of The Flying Classroom. This work can be used in the teaching practice, in teaching or in pedagogically and psychologically oriented subjects. TITLE: The Complexity of Love in Selected Works of Ferdinand von Saar SUMMARY: This diploma thesis deals with the complexity of love in selected works of Ferdinand von Saar. It opens with Saar's biography and the most important events from the author's life. The main part of the thesis analyses the literary representation of love in the following novellas: die Geigerin, Schloß Kostenitz and Requiem der Liebe respectively. A summary of the results achieved follows. The thesis also includes photographic documents and other images from the author's life.

Résumé Cílem mé diplomové práce bylo hledání a analýza židovských tématu v díle Leo Perutze. V první kapitole jsem se zamerila na život a dílo Leo Perutze a dospela k poznání, že prestože Leo Perutz, židovský spisovatel narozený v Praze, kterému se jeho rodice snažili poskytnout co nejlepší vzdelání, byl špatným žákem, který dokonce nezvládl maturitu a musel si ji pozdeji dodelávat, tak jako autor byl a je jedním z nejúspešnejších autoru v meziválecném období a jeden z nejvýraznejších spisovatelu píšící fantastickou literaturu. Jeho díla byla tak úspešná, že se mu u nekolika z nich podarilo dokonce prodat i jejich filmová práva, jako napríklad u jeho románu Zázrak mangového stromu (Das Mangobaumwunder 1923) . Jako dospelý žil tento spisovatel strídave v Rakousku, kde taky studoval a pobýval pred zacátkem druhé svetové války a v Palestine, která se stala jeho druhým domovem. Zde taky dokoncil své nejvýznamnejší dílo, které je zároven hlavním tématem mé diplomové práce: Noc pod kameným mostem (Nachts unter der steinernen Brücke 1953). V druhé kapitole, která nese jméno ztvárnení židovských motivu v knize Noc pod kameným mostem a je zároven centrální kapitolou mé diplomové práce, jsem se zamerila na obsah, protagonisty, prostredí, historické pozadí a židovské elementy v tomto románu. The analysis of the novel "The Promise" and of three film adaptations with the same theme

In der Einführung meiner Diplomarbeit habe ich drei Hypothesen gebildet, die ich jetzt in meinen Abschlussworten verifiziere. Ich habe interessant gefunden, dass Dürrenmatt ein Jahr nach dem Film "Es geschah am hellichten Tag" den Roman "Das Versprechen" mit dem Untertitel "Requiem auf den Kriminalroman" geschrieben hat. Dieser Ablauf war für die damalige Zeit ziemlich untypisch, in den meisten Fällen hat man zuerst ein Buch geschrieben und erst dann hat man davon ein Drehbuch geschaffen. Von dem Film war Dürrenmatt ein bisschen enttäuscht, man hat sich dem Geschmack des Zuschauers anpassen müssen. Der Film mit der pädagogischen Wirkung sollte als eine Warnung und zugleich Veröffentlichung eines unangenehmen Themas des Kinderverbrechens dienen. Den Roman kann man als einen Gegenpol des Films erklären. Der Autor stellt Matthäis Geschichte dem Leser in einem breiteren Kontext vor. Der Erzähler Dr. H. schildert die schon vergangene Geschichte, mit allem was voranging und was folgt. Die Figuren werden in einem anderen Licht wahrgenommen. Im Gegensatz zum Film erfährt man auch einige Informationen über die politischen Umstände in der Schweiz. Der Schriftsteller bietet hier philosophische Veranlassungen, die im Film nicht erscheinen. II Title History interpretation in Fred Wander's literary works Abstract The topic of this diploma thesis is an interpretation of events during the Second World War in Fred Wander's literary work, an important representative of German written literature in the past century. The first chapter presents Fred Wander's life and work and is based on Wander's own autobiography and interviews. The following chapters are dedicated to individual analysis of his three writings: Der siebente Brunnen, Ein Zimmer in Paris and Hotel Baalbek. Wander especially focuses on mediating concrete personal life stories during that epoch. Hotel Haalbek work captures a situation during the first years of the war in the southern France. Der siebente Brunnen describes prisoners' lives in a concentration camp. Wander dedicates Ein Zimmer in Paris work to the topic of how to cope with war experience. The main target of this diploma thesis is about an interpretation of selected themes which are crucial for the mentioned works. This diploma thesis deals with the adventure novel Winnetou I by Karl May and with its practical use in foreign language lessons. The first part is focused on the didactics of literature and on the issue how literature can contribute to the development od pupils' competences and which methods could be used in this process. It also introduces the personality of Karl May in relation to his adventure novel Winnetou I. The second part presents an alternative teaching and learning material that was elaborated on the basis of the adventure novel Winnetou I.

Title: Syntactic characteristics (features) of stretched verb constructions in the language of german journalism Summary: This thesis interprets the meaning and the use of stretched verb constructions. The german newspapers "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung", "Mannheimer Morgen" and "Bild" were chosen as the research objects. The thesis is devided in three chapters. The first chapter explains the theory in general and describes the newspapers and the research method in detail. The practical part analyses the use of these verbs in newspapers and shows that their use depends not only on the newspaper but on the region. Thesis covering topic of Linking social novel and fantasy on an example of Kirsten Boie. Didactic adaptation of the novel "Alhambra" deals with the use of literature in foreign language teaching. The theoretical part discusses its overall contribution to the development of key skills of mastering a foreign language for a student, on the conditions and rules for its use in class. Literature used in class may represent a new source of information about the target language and society that uses it, so it can be used also for multicultural education and with cross-subject projects. The second part deals with the personality of Kirsten Boie and her art, especially the novel "Alhambra" and its theoretical and practical specifics, including a possible contribution to the lesson. In this part an alternative educational material was created, which alone represents a new impetus and a change in the method of teaching for pupils and teachers. Theme and stylistic style of social novel "Alhambra" with historical and fantasy elements doesn't resemble a classic-sounding articles in textbooks, it is thematically attractive for students and arouses curiosity and motivation to read it.
