Short-circuit protection of thyristor voltage source inverters through semiconductor fuses in their dc supply
Bartoš, Stanislav ; Semerád, Radko ; Škramlík, Jiří
Semiconductor devices based on the thyristor structure (GTOs, IGCTs, etc.) or power diodes exhibit high values of the parameter I2t. This enables them to be protected by the so called semiconductor fuses. However, in the dc feeding lene of the inverter, the short-circuit waveforms are strongly different from a half-sine wave, and the best way to find the proper fuse is to employ appropriate computer software.
Noise, vibration and electromagnetic phenomena produced by semiconductor converters in traction vehicles
Budek, P. ; Chmelíček, M. ; Jehlička, Vladimír ; Škramlík, Jiří
Due to the recent employment of up-to-date control electronic and electromechanical devices in cars of City Mass Transportation, new problems arise concerning the dynamics, noise, and the radiation of electromagnetic fields. Their environmental impacts, however, have not been discussed sufficiently, so far.
Control of Active Power filters by Using dSPACE 1103 board
Škramlík, Jiří ; Valouch, Viktor
Paper presents experience with the dSPACE 1103 board used as a controller of active power filter for the compensation of current harmonics of a non-linear load. Results of simulation and laboratory tests are presented and discussed.
Electromagnetic emissions of a trolley-bus with IGCT-based drive
Doležel, Ivo ; Jehlička, Vladimír ; Škramlík, Jiří ; Valouch, Viktor
The paper describes utilisation of a new IGCT-based element in DC inverter designed for feeding of a DC traction motor for trolley-bus. It deals with emissions of electromagnetic field (EMI) produced by operation of the inverter EMI was measured and calculated on a simplified model. Realised was a preliminary best during a low-speed trip within frequency range 150 kHz - 30 MHz. The results exhibit a good accordance with European Standards EN 50121-2, EN 50121-3-1.
EMI Generated by Trolley-Bus with IGCT-Based Drive
Budek, P. ; Doležel, Ivo ; Jehlička, Vladimír ; Škramlík, Jiří ; Valouch, Viktor
The paper describes the employment of a new IGCT element in a dc chopper designed for feeding a dc trolley-bus traction motor. The discussed radiated EMI noise generated during the chopper operation was measured and calculated on a simplified model. The preliminary slow moving tests within the range 150 kHz - 30 MHz were performed. The results of the measurements of magnetic field exhibit the compliance with the European Standards EN 50121-2, EN 50121-3-1.
Control of Active Power Filters by Using dSPACE 1103 Control Board
Škramlík, Jiří ; Valouch, Viktor
The paper presents some results obtained with the dSPACE 1103-based control system of a parallel Active Filter (AF) compensating current harmonics of a non-linear load. The main aim of the study was to evaluate the possibilities of the system dSPACE 1103 to control fast dynamics of the AF.
Some Practical Experience Obtained by Using the System dSPACE 1103 as the Controller of an Active Filter (AF)
Škramlík, Jiří ; Valouch, Viktor
The paper presents some practical experience obtained by using the system dSPACE 1103 as the controller of an active filter (AF) for the mitigation of current harmonics of a non-linear load. Among a lot of problems in this field, possibilities and effectiveness of the dSPACE 1103-based control system were studied in particular by using a selected control algorithm of the AF.
IGCT Switches Used for Traction Drives
Bartoš, Stanislav ; Jehlička, Vladimír ; Škramlík, Jiří ; Valouch, Viktor ; Večerka, Tomáš
So far, the Integrated Gate-Commutated Thyristor (IGCT) has always been considered as a device suitable for converters controlling the power of the order of megawatts or higher.
Sources of High-Frequency Emissions Produced in System Consisting of PWM Inverter, Long Cable and Induction Motor
Valouch, Viktor ; Škramlík, Jiří ; Doležel, Ivo
Operation of inverter-fed asynchronous motor drives is often accompanied by high-frequency interferences caused particularly by parasitic currents of the common and differential modes. These emissions propagated by conductionand radiation...

Valouch, Viktor ; Škramlík, Jiří ; Doležel, Ivo
Power electric circuits with semiconductor inverters often represent sources of high-frequency interferences produced by parasitic currents of the common and differential modes....
