Nursing care of a patient with gastric ulcer with complicated postoperative period
Sedeshova, Yuliya ; Zvoníčková, Marie (advisor) ; Jirava, David (referee)
Gastric ulcer disease belongs to the category of lifestyle diseases and its incidence is quite high. With conservative therapy it is usually easily resolved but treatment can be complicated. This bachelor thesis takes the form of a case study. The case study describes a patient with serious post-surgical complications and emphasizes the importance of precise nursing care. This thesis describes a 65 years old polymorbid patient who had elective surgery for GEA stenosis. The type BII gastric resection was complicated by dehiscence laparotomy and gastroentero- anastomosis. High quality nursing care in the ICU based on the holis-tic concept helped prevent the emergence of new complications and led to an un-complicated recovery. The main finding is that nursing care is important in pre-venting com- plications related to being bed - ridden after an operation. Keywords: gastroenteroanastomosis, importance of nursing care, precise, postop- erative complications, immobilization syndrome.
