Kopecká, Tereza ; ZBOŘILOVÁ, Jana (advisor) ; ZÁBRODSKÁ, Dana (referee)
The thesis deals with the complex solution of costumes of the theatre play The Misanthrope written by Moliére. The work is divided in two main parts: a theoretical study and a practical propose. The theoretical part examines the biography of Moliere, with my own insight into the cultural and historical background of the period. I tried to capture the essence of the playwright's inspiration and justify the form of his plays. This part is served mainly for my own understanding of Molière's life and work. Studing historical circumstances of the period helped me to better understand the play The Misanthrope. An important element during the research process was a field-trip to Paris. Working on Vladimir Mikes´s translation of the Misantrope, I paid attention to the detailed description the text. The second half of my work is devoted to the analysis of previous realizations of the play The Misanthrope in Czech Republic and abroad, thanks to which I explained my own concept of the play. These analyses are supported by illustrative photographs. In the practical part I justified my own choices of inspiration and the costumes, that were based on analysis of the dramatic characters. The second part also includes examples of costume´s drawings.

My thesis is centered on one of the greatest literary pieces and a phenomenon of European literature, which Faust unquestionably is. In the introduction, I?m concerned with the myth of dr. Faust and its historical background itself. I?m tracking the development of the story from its beginning towards the middle ages, through the most famous adaptations of Marlow and Goethe, to the libretto of the French romantic composer Charles Gounod?s opera. Especially this libretto, Gounod?s Faust is a subject of my detailed analysis; I?m paying attention not only to its formal side, but also comparing the work to Goethe?s original artwork. The aim of this part of my thesis is to illustrate the differences between Gounod?s opera and Goethe?s work, centered on the plot of the story. Goethe?s piece is much more complex than Gounod?s opera. I put forward motives and situations, which became the landmarks for this composer?s work. Intentionally then, I?m analyzing single scenes and chapters of the plot, centered on the development. Next, I?m analyzing two of the important Czech incenations of Goethe?s Faust. Those are National Theatre?s 1997 Faust and television adaptation of Divadlo na okraji (Theatre on the edge)?s 1989 Faust inscenation. I?m paying attention to its stage design, especially in Radok?s National Theatre performance. In the next part of my thesis, I?m paying attention to my own interpretation of Goudon?s Faust, which is the theme for my practical bachelor?s thesis. I?m concerned with single parts, which include scenography, costumes and their realisation, light design and technical solutions. I?m putting forward my ideas concerning this opera and the possibilities of its outcomes. In the end of my thesis, I?m adding rich picture annexes, correlating with each chapter.

La Boheme / Complex production stage design solutions/
Hůlová, Magdalena ; Zbořilová, Jana (advisor) ; David, Milan (advisor) ; Vohlídalová, Ivana (referee)
Work such as La Boheme is difficult to grasp it completely original and unusual way. Veristic character of this opera brings a very specific idea of staging as well as visually. I dared to tackle the larger experiment, but I was focused on how a detail or purified architectural morphology contribute to not only retelling the story, but also his own interpretation of a work. The costume I was looking for how this or that detail to support the character drawing figures. I'm not looking for new shapes, and colors drastic solution, but I found the means to move from historic plainclothes toward artistic concept. In the scene, I tried to walk out the basic needs of opera performances and look for characteristics of each background to the very first impression once offered a sense of enclosure, contrary open again. Order now clear that there will reign and rush is rather quiet. That individual background evoked feelings that correspond to situations in which they take place. Although this method is not original, but his manner is very complicated. Not be there to lean on the crutch strong stylization, and it's eternal search for description a level of functionality in both the practical sense and in terms communicativeness. The work also contains a few introductory chapters, and give a period of opera, its author, some art directions that have an impact on the emergence of opera and short introduction to sources of inspiration, which I used in the formulation of conception.
