Reflection in Drama in Education

This Master`s thesis describes and extends knowledge about reflection in drama in education, providing a theoretical basis for a deliberate work with this pedagogical tool that streamlines the learning process and helps to transfer the experience. The individual chapters describe the meaning of reflection, its importance, what it offers to the participants and the lecturer, what can be reflected, how and when reflection can be performed, the role of a question in reflection, and what are the factors affecting reflection. Among other topics, the work also analyses the reflective part of five selected lessons of drama, offering a way to approach the analysis of reflection, and also verifies and enriches the already acquired knowledge.
The sources of inspiration for education through acting at basic school of arts

The thesis deals with the dramatic acting of children in the context of drama in education. It maps different types of working in different types of drama and it focuses on the Literary-Dramatic Department of the Basic School of Arts where the esthetic and artistic influence on children is an inevitable part of the educational process. One of the ways to reach the dramatic and esthetic goals is the education through acting. As the methodological basis of children´s acting is generally considered the Stanislavski´s system respecting the specifics of children development. The thesis presents Michael Chekhov´s techniques, developing the Stanislavski´s system, and the Jerzy Grotowski´s techniques as the possibilities of acting methodology and as an inspiration when working with children on the development of their acting skills. Finally, the Václav Martinec´s acting methodology is mentioned as a possible eclectic approach of acting education.
Controlling children's aggressiveness at elementary school through fairy tale and drama

My thesis deals with the use of a fairy tale and methods of dramatic education when controlling children's aggressiveness at elementary school. In the theoretical part I characterize following phenomenon: aggression, aggressiveness, fairy tale, role play and improvisation. In the practical part of my thesis I deal with the realized project that is grounded on the methods of dramatic education. There are also scripts of individual lessons and their evaluation.
Elocution (Speech) with Adolescents at Basic Art School

Thesis entitled ?Elocution (Speech) with Adolescents at Basic Art School? aims first of all at acquainting the reader ? in the theoretical part ? with the specific nature of the developmental period of adolescence from several perspectives ? from the points of view of human biology, psychology and sociology. This wide-ranging description is followed by a section focusing on working with adolescents in drama education lessons at primary art schools. Then the theoretical part concentrates in greater detail on the topic of reciting with adolescents, again dealt with from several points of view: what course does elocution with adolescents adopt, what features does it help develop, what is the adolescents? selection of artistic texts, what is their approach, their interpretation and what form does their public presentation take. The ensuing practical part describes a year-long project undertaken with a group of adolescents within elocution lessons at a primary art school. Using recitation the project disclosed key topics of adolescents in question, having further focused on differences in girls? and boys? reception. The practical project resulted in the creation and actual performance of a ?poetry drama? that can be understood as amounting to a generation?s statement.
Contemporary Czech Children´s Stories as a Script for Theatre with Children

The essay surveys the field of contemporary Czech children´s stories with regard to the potential of the texts to serve as a script for theatre with children. It focuses on the psychological fiction based on real-life stories. As contemporary literature, the works published from 1989 until now are considered. The first part of the essay deals with the children´s stories with respect to the theory of literature and it overviews the trends of the genre over the last twenty years. In the main part, the author scrutinises the texts in detail and underlines their particular topics, situations and characters. In the final part, the author inquires into the process of adapting the literature for stage taking into account the techniques used in theatre with children. Close attention is paid to the ways the child character is featured.
Work of Jostein Gaarder and possibilities of their use in drama in education

The diploma thesis focuses on the production of contemporary Norwegian writer Jostein Gaarder and on the possibilities how to use his works in teaching dramatic art. The thesis offers an overview of common features, topics, motives and compositional principles prevailing in his books, as well as possible difficulties connected with the use of his books in dramatic art and theatre. It deals in detail with the books Hello? Is anybody here?, Through a glass, Darkly and The Orange Girl. This was a framework for the specification of chosen topics for internal lessons of dramatic education. The supplement contains examples of practical lessons inspired by a concrete book and prepared for a chosen group, as well as reflections related to particular lessons.
Astrid Lindgren´s World in the Context of Drama in Education

The theses focuses on the works of Astrid Lindgren from the point of view of topics that can be used well in drama in education. The first chapter deals with inspiration sources which inspired Astrid Lindgren to choosing actual topics in her works. In the second, most extensive, chapter, Astrid Lindgren´s work is divided into themes. The particular subchapters are outlined in line with these topics. Each particular subchapter presents thematic grounds and their possible development in the framework of drama in education. The third chapter focuses on Astrid Lindgren´s relation to theatre for children, and her drama texts for children and youth. The aim of the theses is to provide an outline of Astrid Lingren´s work to teachers in drama in education, and to offer an insight in the potential development of the given themes in drama education.
The Staging Processwith the Group of Girls from a Drama Course

The goal of this bachelor thesis is a description of the whole years work of the drama group at The Grammar School in Bechyne, Skolni Street. The thesis describes the staging process leading to the formation of a performance, that was based on the story ?The Old Woman And The Tossed Boy? from the book ?The Thorn Girl? written by Jachym Topol. The thesis includes informations about the group, text about the literary artwork, informations about the realization and the presentation of the theatre project. It plots the effect of this work on the group. It describes the educational and theatre aspects of the process and tries to name advantages and disadvantages of my work as the drama teacher of the group. The important aspect of my bachelor thesis is my attempt at an insight into the running of the ?usual? school activities, and at recording, how to make an theatre project in those specific conditions.
One Year with the Children Theatre Group Roztočená vrtule

This bachelor thesis is addressed to the process of staging a play with the children's theatre group, Roztočená Vrtule, with children aged between seven and fifteen years. The group was diagnosed as a basis to select the right topic and the literary artwork to complete the children´s needs. The play is based on the book Tales for naughty children written by Jacques Prévert, translated by Helena and Adolf Kroupa. The thesis closely describes the process of one school year ? the progress of theatre project, that was inspired by improvisations by the group during the preliminary period, when we worked on characters, a scene, costumes and properties. A foundation is written down, a final presentation, and then changes arising from feedbacks, concentrating on the educational, social and theatre benefits for both individuals and the group.
Using Methods of Dramatic Education in Teaching Social Sciences in Elementary School

Thesis dissertates about the particular possibilities how to use the methods of dramatic education in teaching social sciences in 2nd grade in elementary school. It describes state-of-the-art in dramatic education, briefly informs about its methods and techniques, and also about another effective forms of the education that can be used in teaching social sciences. In practical part the review of the subjects suitable to be processed using the methods of dramatic education is suggested. It comprises several detailed analyzed lessons additionally.
