Optical Designs of the Chromospheric Telescope and the Coronograph
Rail, Zdeněk ; Jareš, Daniel ; Tomka, David ; Doleček, Roman
This paper presents optical designs of several devices which are used in solar astronomy – coronograph and telescope for the observations of chromosphere. We insist on high quality of images and simplicity of the whole optical design. The coronograph is composed of 7 optical parts to minimize dispersed light. The chromospheric telescope is designed both for birefringent and Fabry-Perot filters. All these designs could be used as the initial solutions for much complicated devices
Imaging Properties of Several Telescopes of 17th Century
Rail, Zdeněk ; Jareš, Daniel ; Tomka, David ; Doleček, Roman
This paper deals by imaging properties – residual chromatic aberration of some historical telescopes of 17. century. Some of them were probably made by Galileo Galilei which optiical data are known. Further simulated aberrations of telescopes are those of Constantine and Christian Huygens. These singlet objective refractors were the first telescopes with which a man observed sky objects.
The Correction of Optical Aberrations of Astronomical Mirrors
Rail, Zdeněk ; Jareš, Daniel ; Tomka, David ; Doleček, Roman
The paper deals with optical designs of correctors of large and fast spherical and aspherical mirrors. Optical aberrations can be corrected by means both lens and aspherical plates correcting systems. These subaperture systems are placed near focus of main mirror.
Residual aberrations of Clark 8“ telescope of Ondřejov
Rail, Zdeněk ; Jareš, Daniel ; Lédl, Vít
This paper deals with residual aberrations of Clark 8“ (diameter 203 mm) lens of Astronomical Institute of AS CR,v.v.i. in Ondřejov. Objective was disassembled and cleaned in Development Optical Workshop of AS CR in Turnov in 1999. During this process optical parameters of lenses were measured and this makes possible to evaluate mathematical simulation of this dublet.
Catadioptric systems of Argunov, Popov and Klevcov
Rail, Zdeněk ; Jareš, Daniel ; Lédl, Vít
This paper deals with two-mirror systems of Argunov, Popov and Klevcov which use meniscus correctors in convergent beam of light placed near their secondaries. These systems make possible to construct of highly aberration corrected devices. Several telescopes of this type are producted commercialy and belong to the best corrected catadioptric systems.
The Corrector of Volosov
Rail, Zdeněk ; Jareš, Daniel ; Lédl, Vít
Soon after discovery of meniscus telescope of Maksutov optical properties of doublet corrector was researched. Doublet was placed into parallel light beam in front of common optical system. Afocal corrector composed of two thin lenses of the same glass enables to correct optical aberrations of many systems and to reach radical improvement of their imaging properties. Compared to Schmidt plate doublet corrector possesses only spherical surfaces and its manufacturing tolerances are much freer than meniscus of Maksutov. Derivation of main equations was performed by Volosov, Galpern and Grebenshchikova in 1943. Our paper deals with optical aberrations of the system consisting of common aspherical mirror and corrector of Volosov. These systems are less known among opticians and astronomers but enable construction of fast cameras and telescopes.
Optical design of imaging system of spectrograph with multichannel filter
Rail, Zdeněk ; Jareš, Daniel ; Lédl, Vít ; Melich, Radek ; Melich, Zbyněk ; Václavík, Jan ; Oupický, Pavel
At present time multi channel filter is developed within grant in IPP AS CR, v.v.i. It will enable to observe solar phenomena in several interesting working wavelengths. This filter is composed of five members and possesses long optical interval of parallel beams. In this paper we present several variants of imaging systems of spectrograph which are optimized for this filter.
The Merz objective 160 / 179 of refractor of Upice Observatory
Rail, Zdeněk ; Šrajer, Bohdan ; Lédl, Vít ; Jareš, Daniel ; Oupický, Pavel ; Melich, Radek ; Melich, Zbyněk
In this paper, basic optical characteristic of historic objective lens manufactured by Merz are presented. This objective lens has been in use in main dome of Upice observatory since 1960. The lens was cleaned up and adjusted, during reconstruction work of paralactic mount in beginning of this year. Opto-mechanical parameters of the lens were measured. Measured values of optical parameters are presented.
Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes
Jareš, Daniel ; Lédl, Vít ; Rail, Zdeněk
This paper describes analysis of residual aberrations of Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes (SCT). Though SCTs have been produced for 30 years, problem of imaging properties is only rarely discussed. At first we have performed measurement of optical parameters of several commercially produced SCT telescopes of Meade, Celestron and Carl Zeiss Jena, then we have used measured data to construct the models of these system with the help of Zemax program and evaluate residual aberrations. We have found that it is possible to radically improve these systems by changing entry data.
Imaging system for spectrograph with multichanell Šolc filter
Rail, Zdeněk ; Lédl, Vít ; Jareš, Daniel
Solving the problem of solar spectrograph telescope,we have made research of possible imaging systems for spectrograph with multichanell Šolc filter. We have decided to use off-axis unobstructed Maksutov telescope, which is able to meet our demands for constant solar image scale in wavelenght within 380 to 760 nm.This telescope provides good image contrast similar to apochromatic objective lens uses only classical materials. Diameter of the telescope is 140 mm,focal length is 2000 mm.
