The properties of contemporary clay bricks
Polláková, Lenka ; Skotal, Zbyněk (referee) ; Sokolář, Radomír (advisor)
Theoretical part of this bachelor´s thesis describes historical overview of progress of brickwork, including their technology, materials for production and products. Another part are requirements for solid burnt bricks, their properties and database of current manufacturers in the Czech republic and Slovakia. The practical part assesse the possibilities of manufacturers and determines the properties of the tested bricks, especially the salinity including frost resistance and appearance.
Utilization of clays with low sintering temperature in brick technology
Sláma, Jakub ; Skotal, Zbyněk (referee) ; Sokolář, Radomír (advisor)
Bachelor thesis focuses on the use of the low sintering clays as additives in brickmaking. Their main use in the brick industry is mainly in the production of facing bricks and roof tiles. They are used for their very good sintering ability even at relatively lower firing temperatures. This feature is the most important for frost resistence of brick fragment. The theoretical part contains a summary and characteristic features of clays occurring in the Czech Republic and abroad. Further their requirements and laboratory testing of brick clay. In the practical part was conducted market research where are outlined available low sintering clays that may be proposed for use in brick fragment based on declared sintering. An experiment was performed in the next part of bachelor thesis to assess the effect of using low sintering clay in terms of particular brick factory in the Czech Republic (Tondach Šlapanice).
Brickmaking grogs and their thermo-dilatometric determination
Hladík, Václav ; Skotal, Zbyněk (referee) ; Sokolář, Radomír (advisor)
Main focus of the bachelor´s thesis is use of rock waste fraction as an alternative raw material to traditional quartz sand. Effect of this substitution on ceramic produts properties is outlined. Key properties are water absorption, flexural strength and compressive strength. The practical part traces the potential of alternative grogs. Their behavior is monitored by DKTA analysis, water absorption tests and strength tests. Thesis includes author´s suggestion of an optimal grog based on publications and results of the practical part.
Determination of frost resistance of brick bodies
Keršner, Štěpán ; Skotal, Zbyněk (referee) ; Sokolář, Radomír (advisor)
This thesis focuses on the summarization and description of contemporary frost resistance of brick bodies testing methods and methodology of assessing objectively the destruction of brick bodies during freeze-thaw cycles, using ultrasound.
Utilization of Waste Aggregate as grogs in the roofing tiles brick body
Vondříčková, Veronika ; Skotal, Zbyněk (referee) ; Sokolář, Radomír (advisor)
Goal of this work is to judge the effect of different amount of waste aggregate in particular material mixture for production of clay roof tile according to norm ČSN EN 1304 (TONDACH Česká republika s r.o. – cihelna Šlapanice). This document is putting together published experience with usage of waste aggregate in the brickworks business. The effect of different mixture amount was tested in laboratories. Tests were most importantly aimed at temperature stress during burn, vacuum absorption method and mass by volume.
Determination of acoustic properties of brick body
Hladík, Lukáš ; Skotal, Zbyněk (referee) ; Sokolář, Radomír (advisor)
Bachelor thesis deals with the possibility of increasing the index of the air soundless the wall brick forms. The theoretical part summarizes the present knowledge in the field of acoustic properties of the ceramic shard and also the theory and methodology of the appraisal the index of the air soundless of building materials. Then there is the possibility of using ultrasound for indirect appraisal of the index the air soundless of a brick shard described both in the theoretical part in the form of a research of existing sources and in the practical part.
Reducing of energy and ecological demands of brickmaking production
Blažek, Tomáš ; Skotal, Zbyněk (referee) ; Sokolář, Radomír (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the possibility of lowering the required firing tem-perature of brick body by adding different fluxes that promote the formation of the crystalline phase. The thesis also examines the possibility of reducing the amount of fuel required and the associated decrease in carbon dioxide production. Finally, the thesis presents the possibilities of using alternative lightweighting agents as a substitute for the currently used standard wood sawdust.
