Nursing process in patients undergoing orthognatic surgery

Orthognathic surgery is a major field of modern medicine and esthetic dentistry. It deals with surgical treatment of maxillofacial anomalies. The role of nurses in care of patients undergoing orthognathic surgery is reviewed. The aim is to provide nursing care for patients undergoing orthognathic surgery. Theoretical scope of nursing care on abovementioned issues is elaborated. As a comparison, three case reports are presented. A leaflet with recommendations for patients is to be elaborated, it may be available in the offices of orthodontists and maxillofacial surgery departments.
