The object of this thesis is to provide a complex synthesis of the current situation of the Czech minority in Banat, with focus on local culture and elements which it is effected by. The Czech minority in southern Romania has managed to maintain its nation identity, the Czech language itself and traditional folk culture for almost 200 years. The work maps the historical evolution of this community and reasons why it managed to maintain its tradition folk culture. It also reviews the current situation, focusing on the aid provided by the Czech Republic, expansion of tourism and its possible consequences. It presents current state of the local culture and evaluates its presentation and popularization. It also offers my own suggestions how to improve the presentation of the local culture and it considers the future of the community.
