Novel Method to Evaluate Signals from Absolute Position Encoder
Dvořák, Vojtěch ; Husák, Miroslav (referee) ; Maschke, Jan (referee) ; Fujcik, Lukáš (advisor)
The thesis is focused on development and implementation of novel method to estimate position with absolute position encoder utilizing Vernier principle. The novel method was developed to ensure higher reliability of position estimation in applications where characteristics of position sensors are affected by environment or due to ageing of components in lifetime. In the first part of the thesis, an overview of common methods to evaluate signals of position encoder is provided together with analysis of their limits in case of drift of characteristics of position sensor itself. The novel method is derived and deeply analysed in the second part of the thesis and reference implementation into FPGA circuit is presented. The last part of the thesis summarizes tests conducted to verify functionality and properties of the novel method in real application.
