A Streetcar Named Desire - Life of a sex worker (journalistic interview with reportage elements)

Sex workers belong to marginalised groups of society that the media often do not represent. Sex workers are still associated with a lack of understanding, stigma and prejudice. This bachelor's thesis aims to present the life of sex workers from a different perspective. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the issue of sex work, describing the various forms of work in the sex industry, the obstacles that sex workers face and the current state of sex work in the Czech Republic. The methodological part describes the journalistic genre of the final output, i.e. the radio reportage interview and its specifics. It also explains how the practical outcome was created, including approaching the respondent, preparation for recording and the subsequent post-production. The final reportage interview is approximately thirty-seven minutes long and depicts one evening of the reporter and the sex worker. Together they show the preparation for the working evening and the actual waiting for customers. During the evening, the reporter also introduces the story of the sex worker, her life, wishes and desires. The recording includes a personal reflection of the reporter who is accompanying the interviewee the whole evening.
