Awareness about sibling relationships in kindergarten
MACHÁČKOVÁ, Lenka
The theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis "Perception of sibling relationships among preschool teachers" summarizes the influences in development of a child's personality and the aspects of the different birth orders. In the practical part, semi-structured interviews with kindergarten teachers examined the extent to which they perceive the importance of sibling relationships and birth order for understanding the behavior of children in kindergarten. Analysis of the interviews explored teachers' awareness of the topic, their opinion on the influence of birth order and the possibility of using this knowledge in day-to-day work as kindergarten teachers, for example to explain the behavior of their wards. Our research has shown that educators do not consciously take into account the order of a child's birth, but at the same time they do notice it in some of their wards and use this knowledge to help regulate some typical manifestations of children's behavior.
