Landmine Issue in Bosnia and Herzegovina: the Current Situation and the Impacts on Local Residents
Zelba, Michal ; Žíla, Ondřej (advisor) ; Heler, Daniel (referee)
The bachelor thesis is dealing with the issue of landmines in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The explanation of current situation in the country and threats posed by landmines are emphasized. The analysis was chosen as a method of the research. The aim of the thesis was to find out how the mentioned issue influences local residents and why it has not been solved up to now. The historical context leading to the origin of the issue, as well as the approaches that are adopted in Bosnia and Herzegovina are presented in first two chapters. The last chapter reflects current situation and moreover it analyzes the results of the field research, which was based on questionnaire construction. The scale of impacts of landmine issue differs across the Bosnian society. Due to some complications (the reduction of international engagement, corruption, inefficiency of some deminers, general extent of the issue) the complete demining will not be fulfilled until 2019, as it was planned.
