Communication with a patient in critical care

The bachelor's thesis focuses on communication with a patient in the resuscitation department to determine whether the caring nurse and other medical staff (doctor, paramedic, etc.) communicate with the unconscious patient and identify the situations in which communication occurs most often. The theoretical part is divided into 3 chapters, the individual chapters explain what communication is, what are its functions, individual components, and forms. Furthermore, the theoretical part describes communication in nursing care and intensive care, their specifics, and other options. The practical research part was performed as a probe using an ethnographic approach. As part of that, with the help of participatory observation, I monitored communication between members of the medical team and the unconscious patient. At the same time, I detected whether there is also communication between the nurse and individual members of the medical team who come into contact with the unconscious patient. I conducted the research in a three- member team for five consecutive days. The days were divided into three sections - morning section 7:00 - 12:00, afternoon section 12:00 - 17:00, evening section 17:00 - 21:00.
