Meditační zahrada
Máčková, Veronika
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to clarify and define meditation garden by means of reference examples. In its first part, the thesis provides examples of religious-themed gardens, places of reverence, and even landscapes with contemplative potential which might serve as inspirational mediums. It further discusses manifestations of environmental art that by its own nature is capable of initiating thought processes in the viewer inclining him to contemplate. The theory is followed by a practical part which accounts for the means of achieving the meditation function. The intention is to mediate food for the soul through harmony and peaceful atmosphere that encourages self-development and finding and pursuing of one's life path. The goal is to enrich peoples' lives with spiritual dimension which in this case is facilitated through garden architectonic creation. The area surrounding the Holy Family Church in Trenčín was chosen to serve as a model in the design section. The design study itself is preceded by an analysis of the object. Ideological concept of the design is based on the philosophy of Christian meditation. However, the intellectual content is rather symbolic and the meditation garden thus remains open to everyone. Regardless of one's belief, it avoids any discouragement, displeasure or insult. The study is consecutively supported by situation, perspectives, axonometric projection, cuts and details on particular scale.
