The theoretical part provides information on principles of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention, works preventative care and on preventative programmes of health insurance companies. Apart from this, I also deal with the role and options open to a general nurses in terms of provision of preventative care with a general practitioner. In the empirical part, I analyse questionnaires focused on a survey of the level of informedness and interest on the part of the public with regards to general preventative examinations. I also present the results of a study, in terms of which invitations to a general preventative examination were sent out to 100 patients, registered in the surgery of the general practitioner where I work.
