Cholinergic regulation of the lower urinary tract Student: Jeřábek Pavel Tutor: Tobin G. Göteborg University, Sweden; The Sahlgrenska Academy; Institute for Neuroscience and Physiology; Department of Pharmacology Nowadays, the number of patients with lower urinary tract symptoms increases. The goal of this project was to explore the effect of 4-DAMP (4-diphenylacetoxy-N- methylpiperidine) on the regulation of the overactive bladder syndrome (OAB). Furthermore, the effect of induced cystitis by cyclophosphamide on the urothelium changes, was observed. It was found that there are some unspecified mechanisms that can compensate for the present cystitis. But only poor effect on incontinence and different effects in different doses lead to conclusion that 4-DAMP is not the best for the treatment, but additional tests are needed.
