Problems of Nurse's Scarcity in Intensive Care

The theoretical part deals with the work of nurse in intensive care, the problem of nurse's scarcity and stabilization measures of general nurses. The main objective of this work was to map out the problem of nurse's scarcity in intensive care. Another aim was to find out whether the scarcity of nurses in intensive care has an effect on the quality of nursing care and how nurses react to the measures of securing the stabilization of nurses. Information were collected on the basis of two questionnaire surveys. The first form of questionnaire was intended to matrons and the second form was addressed to nurses working in intensive care. The research file was consisted of 8 matrons and 84 nurses from two faculty hospitals in Prague. From results analysis of respondents was confirmed hypothesis No. 1: Problems of nurse's scarcity in intensive care are still actual and the number of nurses is low. Hypothesis No. 2: Scarcity of nurses in intensive care has a considerable impact on the quality of nursing care and hypothesis No. 3: Nurses have problems with maintaining quality of patients care in intensive care.
