Gogol's Government Inspector and its Film and Stage Adaptations

The main topic of this Bachelor´s thesis is the best known work of Nikolaj Vasiljevič Gogol, which is called The Goverment Inspector. The aim of the thesis is to introduce the topic to readers and to compare a book and Czechoslovakian film adaptation of 1933. The work is divided into five parts. The first one summarizes basic moments of author's life and creation. The second part deals with a work. It describes a story and characters and their qualities. At the same time it is focused on reactions of then society to the book. The third part of the Bachelor´s thesis is devoted to Czechoslovakian director and script writer Martin Frič. It deals with his life and mentions the most important film production. The fourth part is focused primarily on the film and its casts. Besides other things, it deals with performance and it compares the film adaptation and the book. The fifth part includes chronological list of other world film adaptation of The Goverment Inspector. This Bachelor´s thesis includes documenty enclosure.
