The breeding and economic analysis of cattle rearing in selected agricultural enterprise
ŠPAČKOVÁ, Barbora
The aim of my diploma work (assignment) was to observe and evaluate the level and the perspective of breeding cattle on a small farm. The observation and evaluation lasted for four years - from 2008 to 2011. Both economical and breeding results were observed. On the first point economic, it is obvious that in all observed categories, i.e. cows with milk production, heifer, calves and bulls fattening, farming is unprofitable in comparison monitored indicators ÚZEI. The results show high costs, especially the costs of feed consumption, internal services and overheads. This is very uneconomical and the farm should endeavour to reduce these costs. In the category of fattening bulls was a loss of profitability negative (in red numbers) in all four years. However, my recommendation is that farm should pay more attention to meat production than to dairy production. So far the farm has successfully managed to top up the net loss from breeding animals by plant based production. In my opinion it is not possible to continue in this manner, e.g. due to extreme weather changes or prices for the production. Nowadays, the most stable are grants which farmers receive. These grants are used to cover losses and thank to them many farmers are still farming (in agriculture/ doing what they do).
