The bachelor thesis is focused on the advantages and disadvantages of care for the elderly in the home environment. The first chapter contains the characteristics of aging and old age, changes in old age, the characteristics of the family and home care. The second chapter contains assistance through social services and financial resources. The third chapter contains the advantages and disadvantages of caring for the elderly in the home environment.

Social fieldwork with seniors

The thesis is focused on the field social work with elderly people. The first chapter describes old age, aging, changes in old age, changes in self-sufficiency and aging of society. The second chapter is devoted to the needs of seniors. The third chapter contains social work with seniors, care allowance, irreplaceable role of the family in the care of a senior and field social services in Blatná region. The theoretical part is followed by a research process whose aim is to chart the seniors satisfaction with the use of services in the region and also the help of their families. There are two facilities providing the social service in the certain area in the research group. One of them is the Regional Charity of Strakonice and the other one is the Care Service Organisation.

The thesis deals with the importance and possibilities of using memories in social services with seniors. Thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part contains the theoretical knowledge of the senior age, the value of memories in social services with seniors and methods of social services that are focused on the use of memories. The second part targets on the qualitative research of the problem in a specific organization aimed at providing the field of social services for the seniors, the Regional Charity Strakonice, in nursing service and personal assistance. The research is focused on the analysis of the importance of memories in terms of employees and users in providing on-site social services, evaluation methods of work with memories and to consider options for further use of methods of work with the memories in this organization.
