The Use of Asbestos, Remediation of Contaminated Areas and the Risk of Impact on the Human Organism

The work deals with the uses of asbestos minerals, methods of safe disposal of asbestos and the disease burden caused by exposure to asbestos fibers, of which the most dangerous is crocidolite. Attention is paid to the physical-chemical and structural properties, classification and explanation of the processes of their formation, indicating areas of the Czech Republic and abroad. Describes the history of asbestos use since ancient times to the 20th century, including mass balance asbestos consumed in the technosphere that over the past hundred years, amounts to almost 194 million tons. It then focuses on building fire protection, insulation and other products with different content of asbestos in the world which total over 3000 and registered on the characteristics of asbestos substitute materials, such as ceramic, glass and carbon fibers, aramids, wollastonite, vermiculite and perlite. Describes methods for determination of asbestos fibers in the air, water and soil as a complete course of rehabilitation of contaminated objects. This bachelor work is focused on the waste management of major company implementing in the field of construction work. The teoretical part is addressed in legislation dealing with issue in the Czech republic and the general issue of construction waste. In the practical section provides specific procedures especially as Subterra followed in practice their program works and on which it is implemented. I've explored waste management in practice, not only by legislation. It can be concluded that the company proceed with the implementation of their projects in accordance with the law.

The thesis deals with the possibilities of use of construction and demolition waste in the Czech Republic and focus on the method of using recycled track ballast concrete in the SŽDC's construction. The theoretical part of thesis provides an overview of recycling methods used in construction. The practical part focused on how to use con-struction waste at a specific site and compare the alternatives construction waste management, from an economic and environmental point of view.

Subsidy Support of the Sustainable Waste Management

The subject of the dissertation is the issue of the waste management with special emphasis on the recycling of the construction and demolition waste. The recourse is an analysis of the key instruments regulating the activities and behaviour of market operators in this field toward fulfilling all-society priorities and principles of the sustainable development, where special accent is put on the area of subsidy policies and programmes. The aim of the dissertation is to analyse and evaluate the setting of the selected subsidy programme in terms of economic and ecological efficiency with the emphasis on the assessment of the impact on the recipient. The subject of the research will be a priority axis 4 "Improvement of Waste Management and Removal of Old Environmental Burdens" within the Operational Programme Environment 2007 - 2013. In the literature review basic concepts and important definitions are defined, followed by the comprehensive and complex searches of the problematics from different angles of view. First of all, the global aspect of environmental protection is discussed, broader historical, legal, economic and political contexts, that are essential fundament for understanding the current and future challenges both globally regionally, are summarized. Hereafter, a more detailed description of the situation of the European Union is followed, then the overview is completed by a detailed view at the state of the problematics in the Czech Republic. Subsequent chapters are devoted to a detailed analysis of the waste management sector, again in terms of global, European and national standpoint, in the end the view is focused on the key issue of the dissertation problematics of construction and demolition waste. In the application part the fulfilling of the stated objective of the dissertation through four defined hypothesis is solved. Hypotheses verify the efficiency and appropriateness of the setting of the system of subsidies in the frame of the monitored programme. The emphasis is imposed on the assessment of the impact of the allocated subsidies to the private entities on their economic and environmental efficiency.

The aim of the work is to briefly explain the problems of entrepreneurs in dealing with waste. In the theoritical part I will summarise the important terms,then I will describe the relation of a company and the environment and I will end this part by explaining the problems of dealing with waste, mainly the building and demolition waste and by the possibilities of ecologic handling with them. In the practical part I will try to find out on which types of buildings it will be more economical for a building company to use the more ecological alternative of dealing with waste. Furthermore I will find the optimal amount of building and demolition waste suitable for recycling with which it will be more economical to use the more ecological alternative of dealing with waste.
