Life under the shelter of God. Wayside shrines in the 19th century - customs and manifestation of the folk devoutness of that time. The Bachelor thesis focuses on the acts of folk devoutness on the basis of spiritual theology in connection with tangible heritage ? the columns of the crucifixion and some preserved archival material. The text is divided into seven basic chapters. The first chapter deals with the general introduction to the problem, the second chapter briefly outlines the methodology, the third chapter defines the geographical area. The fourth chapter explains the situation of the Catholic Church in the 19th century. The fifth chapter looks into the concept of devoutness in general, the sixth chapter continues with the topic explaining the folk devoutness and concentrates on the spiritualness of the young shortly. The following chapters discuss the pilgrimages in the 18th and 19th century. The seventh chapter supports the links between the tangible heritage and the folk devoutness.
