The comparison of voiced and unvoiced consonant pairs
Šablatúra, Šimon ; Smékal, Zdeněk (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the comparison of voiced and unvoiced consonants. The aim of the work is the analysis of the pronunciation of single consonants in different languages. Five pairs of voiced and unvoiced consonants were selected for this work and were recorded by five narrators. Subsequently, these recordings were analyzed in the Matlab, Praat and Excel programs, where spectra, formant regions and directional characteristics of single consonants were compared. These analyzes were related to the physiological formation of consonants in the given language. The selected languages for this work are Spanish, Slovak, Czech and Russian.
The analysis of how the different sizes of double bass sound board contribute to the timbre of the instrument
Petrovský, Lucián ; Smékal, Zdeněk (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
This thesis deals with the comparison of three double basses with different resonance box sizes. It focuses on the comparison of spectra, spectrograms, formant regions, directivity and resonant modes of their cabinets. The output of the thesis is an investigation of the effect of different cabinet sizes on the timbre of the instrument. The theoretical part contains background information, a brief history and a review of important quantities. The practical part contains comparison tables and graphs needed to evaluate the conclusion.
The Analysis of mutes on trombone and trumpet timbre
Košař, Vojtěch ; Mojdl, Edgar (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
This work deals with the sound mute issues, specifically how they affect the timbre of a trombone and a trumpet, their sound spectrum, levels of individual harmonic tones, the presence of formants and the directional characteristics of individual tones played in various dynamics. A part of this work is also focused on the theoretical description of a trombone and a trumpet, including their brief history, their classification, the parts they are consisting of and the timbre. The theoretical part is further dealing with the description of mathematic functions like FFT or LPC analysis, which have been implemented in the MATLAB environment when creating the graphic dependents for this theme.
Analysis of Time-Varying Spectrum of Pianos
Smělý, Pavel ; Rajmic, Pavel (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
This work focuses on an analysis of a time-varying spectrum of pianos. The beginning of the work deals with the gradual evolution of the piano, aiming at timbre and design, and it analyzes in detail its individual parts and their influence on the sound spectrum. The theoretical part also concentrates on the issue of harmonic analysis in both the musical conception of timber and the usage of mathematical signal processing methods that make this analysis possible. Another part deals with practical tasks of the work such as a description of an application and functions created in the interface of MATLAB for exploring the time-varying spectrum of tones, description of the method and procedure of the measuring of three concert grand pianos. The work also analyzes, by supporting it with practical examples and by comparing the measured pianos, the most important acoustic phenomena that originate from the production of tones in the instrument; it describes the timber of individual instruments, and it gives recommendations.
Audio-to-Score Alignment tool
Búliková, Tereza ; Sládok, Ondřej (referee) ; Kiska, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis deals with obtaining spectra and chroma features from audio records. Features are used in synchronization algorithm Dynamic Time Warping. This algorithm is used to create synchronization programs Audio-to-audio and Audio-to-score alignment.
Acoustical simulation of going car
Lacko, Tomáš ; Horka, Michal (referee) ; Sigmund, Milan (advisor)
This project includes an overview of different processing methods phonograms. It focuses primarily on time - frequency analysis carried out using Fast Fourier Transform (STFT). The main essence is to evaluate the time - frequency analysis of recorded motor vehicle, driving at different options, together with an analysis of driver activity in these variants. Based on the results of the analysis deals with the creation of synthetic audio signals of motor vehicle records. Further addresses the creation of the program for acoustic simulation engine is running smoothly when driving a car. Processing recorded signals and their evaluation is transferred using Matlab 7.7.0 ( R2008 )
Study of unsteady phenomena in pump as turbine
Hliboký, Samuel ; Zemanová, Lucie (referee) ; Štefan, David (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with centrifugal pump running as a turbine. Basic working principles of a pump are included, both in pump and turbine regime. Experimental data obtained from laboratory test bed are compared with CFD simulation on slightly simplified geometry. Obtained results are then processed using spectrogram. Influence of time step and mesh size on results is also researched.
Vamp Plugin for Sonic Visualiser
Pilát, Peter ; Zvončák, Vojtěch (referee) ; Kiska, Tomáš (advisor)
In my Bachelor Thesis, I devote myself to obtaining information from music, the way it can be obtained, the aspect of musical information, and the use of the methods themselves. Then I analyze content-oriented music management methods and also include parameterisation of music recordings and audio signal overall. After familiarizing with the specific parameterization tools to implement the Vamp plugin, which are Sonic Visualiser and Sonic Anotator, I characterize the Vamp Plugin and explain in detail its composition. As explained in the manuals and the calculations in progress, the RMS calculation function of the given signal with the possibility of segmentation functions as well as the function of displaying the sound rate or possible changes in the track temperature. Last but not least, we mention the possible use of these supplements in the future and in different sectors.
Acoustic detection of starlings through artificial intelligence
Zezula, Benjamin ; Vlachová Hutová, Eliška (referee) ; Marcoň, Petr (advisor)
To protect the vineyards from starlings is very costly and ineffective with the available resources over a period of time. In my project, I have designed a detection module that relays information about the flock location in the vineyard to the control module and thus produces scaring. I have designed two kinds of detection modules, which are compared. The first variant consists of a single directional microphone that rotates and sequentially senses the entire area of the vineyard. The second variant consists of four microphones, each one is directed to the cardinal point and based on the intensity of sound, the module will provide the information about the direction where the flock is located. Both detection modules process the signal in a Raspberry Pi 4 single board computer using an artificial neural network algorithm powered by MobileNetV2 architecture.
Comparison of methods for RGB spectrogram construction of DNA
Postránecká, Tereza ; Provazník, Ivo (referee) ; Kubicová, Vladimíra (advisor)
This thesis discusses about possibilities of construction colour DNA spectrograms and about patterns which can be detected there. Spectrograms as tools of spectral analysis give us a simultaneous view of the local frequency throughout the nucleotide sequence. They are suitable for gene identification or gene regions identification, determination of global character about whole chromosomes and also give us a chance for the discovery of yet unknown regions of potential significance. For purpose of this kind of DNA analysis is possible to use digital signal processing methods. We can apply them on only after conversion of DNA sequence to numerical representation. Selection of correct numerical representation affects how well will be reflected biological features in numerical record which we need for another use in digital signal analysis.
