Color asspciations in different cultures

This bacelor thesis is about associations connected with colors in different cultures, focuses on differences in perception and use of colors and discribes the meaning of color for marketing purposes. The goal of this thesis is to provide answers for two questions. 1)Whether generally prefered or generally unpopular colors exist. 2)Whether the differences between associations connected with colors in various cultures exist. The first part of the thesis deals with not only physical but also psychological influence on an individual as a rule, covers the history of color and research by M. Lüsher. The second part of the thesis deals with the differences in perception of color in different cultures and describes possible explanations of existing differences. The third part of the thesis concentrates on the associations assigned to colors and preference of colors in three specific countries. The research was based on survey responces of natives from Belarusian republic, Estonia and Czech republic.
