The Cooperation Quality of Elementary Schools with Specialists on Prevention of Social Pathological Phenomena on the Třebíč's Discrict.
CHALUPOVÁ, Michaela
The Bachelor's thesis deals with the prevention of socio-pathological phenomena at primary schools in the district of Třebíč. The prevention of socio-pathological phenomena has developed significantly in recent years, especially prevention at schools and school facilities. Prevention is most often done by schools themselves in lectures or classes dealing with health education. Furthermore, there are more and more bodies providing preventive programmes. Schools just need to select a programme and order it. The thesis focuses on the cooperation between primary schools and experts in the prevention of socio-pathological phenomena. The aim of the thesis was to explore the degree and quality of cooperation between primary schools and experts in the prevention of socio-pathological phenomena, and whether there is any difference between smaller and larger primary schools concerning this issue. Experts refer to police officers, firefighters, paramedics and other providers of preventive programmes. A qualitative research method was used for the research. Data collection was carried out using in-depth narrative interviews. Research participants were selected by an intentional (purposeful) selection. The research sample consisted of five prevention methodologists of larger and smaller primary schools in the district of Třebíč. The size of schools was determined by the number of pupils who attend the school. The research focused on the following research question: Do primary schools cooperate in the prevention of socio-pathological phenomena with experts from other disciplines? The results showed that all surveyed primary schools cooperate with experts in the prevention. The most common providers include Třebíč Municipal Police, Moravské Budějovice Municipal Police, Emergency services and non-state non-profit organizations, such as Klub Zámek, K-centrum, STŘED, o.s. and others. However, for the most part schools carry out prevention themselves, mostly as part of family and civic education. Schools offer plenty of leisure time activities within the non-specific primary prevention. When cooperating with experts, schools let providers handle preventive programmes themselves. They provide experts with information about individual groups they enter, number of pupils, or problems that occur in a class. The research also suggested the most frequent risk phenomena that appear at the interviewed schools. These are bullying, truancy, substance abuse and cyberbullying. In addition, the research showed that there is no problem with the funding of preventive programmes at almost any school. At the end of the interview, each school methodologist was asked: How subjectively do they perceive prevention at the school where they work? According to the responses, four methodologists are satisfied with the prevention at the school, but only one would not change anything. Within the research two large and three smaller primary schools were visited and no difference was noticed in this area. Even though prevention has developed significantly in recent years, it is advisable to focus on this issue in the future too. Therefore, it would be beneficial if this Bachelor's thesis became a basis for further research. The thesis can bring further information about the cooperation of primary schools and experts in the prevention of socio-pathological phenomena.
