Financial evaluation of social workers and its influence on possibilities for a dignified life and self-care
STRÁSKÝ, Marek
This thesis focuses on the financial income of social workers and the possibilities of self-care for social workers depending on their income. The first part of this thesis contains a theoretical definition of the concept of self-care. First, this thesis describes the interconnectedness of self-care with mental hygiene, then it discusses the potential risks of inadequate self-care, and finally it presents the obstacles that social workers face in their pursuit of self-care. The second part of this thesis focuses on the financial income of social workers, both in non-governmental and governmental organizations. The third part of this thesis quantifies the minimum financial cost required for a basic level of self-care. This quantification is based on the concept of the Minimum decent wage. Based on this quantification, this thesis then proposes two possible adjustments to the financial remuneration of social workers. The final part of this thesis deals with the ethical side of the issue, which is considered mainly from the perspective of deontology and utilitarianism.
