The history of the religious community the CHC in 1925 - 1990

The thesis wants to present a briefly documented history of the religious community CHC in Vodňany from 1925 until 1990. Evidence of the origin and existence of a religious community is given by the general history of the Vodňany town. The following part is a prerequisite for establishment of a religious community CHC. After WW I, the town of Vodňany was characterized by a great inclination to reform the Catholic Church. The spirit of great joy from new beginning was obvious from the founding of the religious community of the new CHC church. Those joyful emotions were immediately replaced by the responsibilities during construction of the church building and subsequent complications with the repayment of construction costs. The study also deals with the architecture of the church building. Members of the religious community were active. They focused not only on the running of the community, but developed cultural (Theater) and sports activities as well. The testimony to these activities was testified by the Youth Union of CHC and the Zeyer - Theater Association. During of WW II, the activities of the religious community were limited to the bare essentials. The years after war meant taking a new breath. However, the recovery from war did not last long. The Life and Work of the Pastors Alfred Kocáb and Jiří Doležal between years 1968 and 1989

This thesis deals with the life and work of two pastors of the Evangelical Church of the Czech Brethren, Alfréd Kocáb and Jiří Doležal, between 1968-1989. For this research the oral history method was used. The thesis contains a selection of interviews, which the author conducted with the pastors in spring 2013, and an interpretation of them according to the rules of the discipline of oral history. Preceding to the interviews available materials related to both pastors were studied, which are mainly documents in church and state archives, but also interviews with contemporaries of both pastors. The aim of this thesis is to create a platform to the pastors to speak, so that they can present their life and work according to their memories and comment various events, which constituted them. The two pastors represent two different wings in the ECCB in that period. In this way, these two concepts and accents of life and theology are entering into a mutual dialog. Through two life testimonies we can pars pro toto observe the life of the church and the country in the difficult years 1968-1989. The second aim of the work was to create new historical sources in the form of recordings of interviews and transcriptions of them.
Immigration of foreign clergy to Czechia

The theses engages with foreign clergy migration to Czechia. The theoretical part of the work dedicates to the discussion with literature. In practical part focuses on methods and data sources. The goal of this theses is to find out if there is clergy migration to Czechia and, if so, how is its structure. The result is that this migration really exists and these migrants compose indispensable part of clergy, especially in Roman Catholic Church. Most of them are in Prague and its surroundings. From countries of origin predominates Poland and then Slovakia. The majority of foreign clericals comes from other European countries, especially from Poland and Slovakia. The history of the Olešnice parish in the late 18th and during the 19th century

This dissertation introduces a history of the Olešnice parish based on research stemming from an accessible of sources. It focuses first of all on the parish?s creation and then on the state of the parish and how it was affected by Josef?s reforms. The dissertation questions how greatly these reforms influenced its inception and function. Its focus is on an internal organization and parish run, with its act within a state administration. The opening chapter summarizes the literature and other sources used for researching this subject and are followed with chapters about the church administration at the time of late modern period, and also the establishment of the České Budějovice bishopric and the spiritual committee Czech land Gubernia. The studies begin with the history of Olešnice. It first details the important institutions in a village (school, pastorate, authority) and the holding of properties. The next chapter is then focused on the origination and history of the Olešnice parish, with the main focus being on visitations and the churchmen. The end chapters are concerned with the sacred objects within the parish (the church, the chapel and the devotional pillar), patronage in local parish and school matters. The final chapter represent written production of parish and focus on situation of parish registry. Total summary is stated at the end.
