HRKĽOVÁ, Markéta
The theme of this bachelor thesis is the preparation for fathering the role of a midwife. This work is composed of two parts, the theoretical and the investigative part. The theoretical part deals with three main chapters. In view of professional literature there is described the theme of midwifery in the first chapter. There is outlined the history and the present of midwives and also their competence. The second chapter is devoted to the involvement of father during pregnancy and childbirth. There is described an antenatal preparation, experience the pregnancy from the view of a partner. We explain the term couvades and we bring nearer the outlook at the issue of the attendance of a father by childbirth. The third chapter is named fathering. There is the description of fatherhood, its history and present in this part. We also deal with the matter of active fathering and other types of fathers in this unit. The investigative part is focused on anxieties and readiness of fathers for their first child. We set three basic aims in this bachelor thesis. Aim No. 1: To find out, how the midwife provided the information to the future fathers and what info the fathers missed. Aim No. 2: To find out, what the future fathers felt apprehensive about, where they searched for information, help and advice. Aim No. 3: To find out, if the attendance at the antenatal course was practical. On the basis of given aims there were settled research questions focused on midwife´s education in the preparation for the role of a father and also focused on the way of searching for information which the fathers missed. The goal of this work was to find out, how the men were up to their new role and how the midwife became involved in the antenatal courses and at childbirth. It was chosen the qualitative research investigation for this matters processing and achievement of appointed aims. We selected the method of semi-structured interviews of own construction for data collection. The interviews were consequently processed by the method of content analyses. The research file made a random selection of men who were willing to cooperate, they agreed orally with providing the interviews and also with the publication of some identification details. The research sample was made by ten men who expected their first child and they took part in the antenatal course. The gained information is written in italics. The answers of respondents are described in the practical part of this work. Then there is the summary assessment of the most important data from the interviews and also the table with identification details of the participants. This investigation was made from January to March 2015. We find out from the results that the most common way of education went in lecture completed with presentation and video about childbirth. The other ways were e.g. monologues with the possibility to ask questions and informative brochures. Men very often felt the lack of preparation from the midwife especially about the postpartum period. They missed the sample of manipulation with newborn infant, changing nappies and bathing. We found out the lack of time devoted to men at the antenatal courses where they missed the theme of first aid for newborn infants. The men were especially afraid of the birth, health of their partner, child and also of their new life role. They get the most information from their mothers, partners, friends and on the internet. Men think that the antenatal courses were good, they helped them to develop gained information and clarify some situations they didn´t know much about. This work points to the importance and necessity of education of future fathers at the antenatal courses.
Practical usage of antenatal courses knowledge in labour and puerperium
JUROVÁ, Kristýna
Pregnancy is one of the most beautiful moments in human life. The mother organism undergoes numerous changes due to the pregnancy. The woman is getting ready for motherhood. They enter an absolutely new and unknown period. A birth preparation course may be found very helpful for them since it helps clarify the course of pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum period. Women are prepared, informed and have a rough idea what all they may expect. The main objective of the bachelor thesis is to ascertain whether women are satisfied with the concept of birth preparation courses. The sub-objectives are to ascertain whether women make practical use of the knowledge obtained in birth preparation courses during their pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum period. The research was conducted by a quantitative method, using the form of questionnaires. The respondents were primiparas who underwent birth preparation courses. The questionnaires were distributed at the postpartum ward in the hospitals in České Budějovice and Příbram. The questionnaire was anonymous, voluntary and the results of the research were processed only within the scope of the bachelor thesis. The data collection took place from November 2011 to February 2012. Within the research, the data from 110 correctly completed questionnaires were assessed. The results are clearly presented in diagrams. All objectives have been fulfilled ? women are satisfied with the concept of the birth preparation courses. In total, 72 % of the respondents evaluate the courses as helpful, 90 % of the respondents would recommend the undertaken course to their friends, and 80 % of the respondents did not lack any information at the course. The first research issue has also been confirmed ? women make practical use of the knowledge obtained in birth preparation courses during their pregnancy. Preparation for childbirth is the main reason why women want to attend birth preparation courses. The second research issue, namely whether women make practical use of the knowledge obtained in birth preparation courses during the childbirth, has also been confirmed. This conclusion was derived with the aid of diagrams 9-13. The women mention the knowledge of the breathing technique, are familiar with relief positions, are informed of the probable course of childbirth, etc. The last research issue has also been answered ? women make practical use of the knowledge obtained in birth preparation courses during the postpartum period. Women know how to take care of their breasts after the childbirth, how to observe hygiene after the childbirth, know the correct breastfeeding technique, etc. The drawn up bachelor thesis may serve, in particular, for midwives who run birth preparation courses. They may find out what information women lack at birth preparation courses, focus on the given issue and rectify the deficiencies. The bachelor thesis may also serve as an educational material for future midwives who may get an idea what all is involved in birth preparation.
The support of the presence of a father throughout a birth from midwives point of view
MAŠKOVÁ, Jana
The topic of this Bachelor Thesis is Support of Fathers? Attendance at Midwifery. The Thesis is dividend in two parts, theoretical and practical ones. The theoretical part concentrates on the father?s role within the pregnancy and in the course of delivery, on the midwife?s care during the delivery as well as on both laymen and professionals? opinions on the fathers? attendance at delivery. Nowadays, fathers? birth attendance appears quite a common thing, which did not use to be obvious in the past. However, we can meet with various views of the matter. The first aim of the research investigation was to ascertain the midwive?s opinion on fathers? birth attendance, and the way they support those fathers attending the birth. The second aim was to ascertain how much the fathers were satisfied with the midwive?s support. So as to reach these aims, the qualitative research investigation in the form of semi-structured interviews was adopted. The research sample was made up by eight midwives from the Maternity Unit of the Hospital in Třebíč, and eleven randomly chosen partners/fathers attended the births in this Hospital. The data collected from the interviews were processed via the quantitative analysis. It was ascertained that the midwives had a positive approach towards the fathers? birth attendance, and they preferred cooperation with those partners/fathers who had not been made to their attendance in any way. The midwives expressed their support for the partners/fathers attended in form of their communication with both of the expectant parents, and not forcing the partners they tried to involve them in the delivery process. Fathers/partners mentioned that they did not feel to be a burden but a part of the team. Concerning the midwive?s support, most of the interviewed partners/fathers found it satisfactory. Only one of them did not need this support, he claimed it for his wife only. Other two of the interviewed fathers/partners did not feel the support of the midwives. The results of this research investigation could be used as the information material for the midwives working at the delivery room, or for students studying this specialization, and for the expectant fathers as well.
Perceptions of men on their participation in childbirth
BUKOVSKÁ, Daniela
This study consists of two key parts. The focus of the theoretical part is pregnancy, childbirth and activities that a partner of the pregnant woman can carry on during various stages of her pregnancy and delivery. Furthermore, activities of nursing midwife who has to bear in mind that not only the laboring woman is in the delivery room, but also her partner. The empirical part was prepared through a qualitative research based on structured interviews with twelve respondents, partners of pregnant women. These respondents were divided into three groups: first-time fathers who participated in specialized childbirth classes, first-time fathers who did not participate in the specialized childbirth classes and obtained the relevant information from their friends, books or from the internet, and fathers-to be attended their child?s birth in the past. The research was carried on in June and July in České Budějovice. The results can be used as educational material for practicing midwives who have decided to use their professional knowledge in the specialized childbirth classes and for midwives working in the delivery rooms. The first goal was to explore whether the expectations of men who decided attend their child?s birth and participated in the specialized childbirth classes differ from the expectations of men who did not participate in the specialized childbirth courses. The results show that both groups basically expect the same; that is willingness, empathy and readiness to help on the part of medical team, active role in childbirth and, in particular, coaching by the nursing midwife. The second goal was to compare expectations of men who had been present at the childbirth in the past and expectations of first-time fathers. There research has shown that their expectations do not differ from the expectations of the first-time fathers who have not yet attended the delivery. They also expect active involvement and guidance on the part of the nursing midwife who would explain everything to them in the delivery room. In case they were not actively involved in the first delivery, they would like to play an active role in the next labor and delivery. This bachelor?s thesis can serve as information and textbook for future students of the branch Midwife. The results can also be used as educational material for practicing midwives who have decided to use their professional knowledge in the specialized childbirth classes and for midwives working in the delivery rooms.
Effect of antenatal preparation for childbirth first female nascent and cooperation with the midwife.
HANZLÍKOVÁ, Hana
Effect of antenatal preparation for childbirth first female nascent and cooperation with the midwife. Birth has always been perceived as a difficult life situation, which requires necessary preparation, even if it was mere passing on the wisdom from one generation of women to another. An expectant mother has a possibility of attending antenatal courses alongside with her partner. There, the parents-to-be gather information on the course of pregnancy, good nutrition, and possible complications during pregnancy. They become familiar with a might-be management of the birth, the issues relating to postpartum period, and the basics of how to take care of newborns. Since 2002, the author has organized antenatal courses for expectant women and their partners in Strakonice. This drew author?s attention to the question whether antenatal preparation of mostly primiparas has an impact on the management of the birth and postpartum period, and the question of collaboration between a prepared woman and a midwife. The first objective of the thesis was to confirm whether antenatal education of mothers-primiparas has an impact on the management of the birth and postpartum period. The second objective of the thesis was to observe the impact of the antenatal preparation on the collaboration between a woman-primipara and a midwife during the delivery and postpartum period. The bachelor?s thesis is based on a qualitative research that introduced 2 objectives and 4 research questions. Data were collected by interview. For the purposes of the research, interviews were held with primiparas who had completed antenatal preparation, primiparas who had delivered their babies at the maternity hospital in Strakonice, and midwives currently working at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Hospital Strakonice PLC. The results of the qualitative research were processed in the form of case reports and assessment tables. The established objectives were met. The research questions provided necessary data to accomplish the research. Based on the responses to the research questions, 4 hypotheses were established. The outcomes of the research point out the quality of care provided by midwives during the antenatal preparation. In practice, they might be utilized in negotiations with insurance companies that are welcome to contribute to women so as they do not have to pay the full price of the courses in question. The outcomes also raise questions whether they help prevent complications during the birth and postpartum period or not.
Physioterapeutic impact on apparatus of movement during pregnancy and preparation to the labour
KOTRŠALOVÁ, Jana
This bachelor work was aimed at the effect of individual physiotherapy on apparatus of movement during pregnancy and preparation to the labour. The first objective of my research was to find out whether the women who underwent individual physiotherapy in their pregnancy, in addition to the above stated courses, suffered minor problems connected with the locomotive apparatus before and during the parturition than the women who did not undergo individual therapy. I also addressed parturition, particularly duration of the first delivery period and pains during the delivery. Both objectives of my research have been attained. The anamneses of the women were obtained, kinesiological analyses were made and for one of the women a short-term plan was elaborated according to which the therapy was undertaken; subsequently the final analysis of the obtained results was performed. Two hypotheses have followed from my research. According to my first hypothesis, individually controlled physiotherapy undertaken during pregnancy can positively influence the locomotive apparatus of every pregnant woman. The second hypothesis claims that individual physiotherapeutic care has no significant effect on the course of the parturition.
