Analysis of changes to mental condition of women in mid-maturity as the result of yoga breathing exercises.
KAŇKOVSKÁ, Věra
This bachelor work deals with the influence of yoga breathing exercises on the psyche of women of medium adult age. Thirty women of ages from thirty to forty five years took part in an intervention programme, which is Yoga in daily life. These women have the role of mother, wife, working woman or they are unemployed. Their states of health are various. Some of them feel discomfort in their physical health, some of them in their mental health, some of them in social health. The goal of this work is to optimise the psychic condition by yoga breathing exercise. The intervention programme leads the woman to increasingly feel their body on physical, mental, social and spiritual levels. During the exercises the attention of the trainees is permanently focused on compliance between moves and breathing. At the end of every exercises training of a special breathing exercises, so-called pranajama, was performed and this has a big impact on decreasing psychic tension. In the scientific part of the work observations were made of changes to heart frequency measured by a Sporttester Polar Vantage Night Vision NV ? device and changes to the women?s mental state by means of standardised POMS and STAI questionnaires. In the final discussion the results are analysed and presented in the form of tables and charts. Application of the intervention program caused positive changes in both observed psychosomatic categories. It was discovered that during the yoga breathing exercises the heart frequency decreased and the nervous system became harmonised. The ascertained observations could be utilised in the field of prevention and health support.
