The aim of this bachelor thesis is to discuss the breeding of grapevine rootstocks, which are highly resistant or resistant to phylloxera. The first part of the thesis deals with the research of the phylloxera, its history and current occurrence in the world. Further, the description of the Vitis species, which are mostly used in nowadays breeding programs. The following is a summary of the representation of the cultivated rootstocks and the characteristics of the newly bred rootstocks over the last 10 to 15 years. The thesis focuses on new methods of breeding rootstocks. Appropriate breeding methods and suitable selection of rootstocks for the South Moravian region are recommended in the end.

This bachelor thesis deals with the growth and physiological properties of the Savilon variety on several different rootstocks. In the introduction of the thesis are described properties, aboveground and underground parts of the grapevine and problems of growth. Part of the work is devoted to the rootstock varieties, with description of its properties, the growth rate, the resistance to grape phylloxera, root nematodes and drought, the resistance to active lime content, compatibility and affinity with the grafted variety, requirements for soil conditions and cultivated rootstock varieties in Czech Republic. In the main part, the measured values of the experiment are analysed and suitable grain scion is determined for grafting on the Savilon variety.

This work has been written on the topic Effect of rootstocks on the intake of minerals. In this work I was concerned with using the rootstock used in vineyards in the Czech Republic. What are the positives and negatives their utilization. The history of rootstocks have the use as a weapon against the aphid grape phylloxera. Description of individual rootstocks and botanical species from which they are crossed as well. Evaluation of soil conditions that are the most suitable for the rootstock. Furthermore, what impact does it on the income base minerals for the whole bush and the berries. Characterization of the individual elements of mineral nutrition for optimal growth of shrubs. And last but not least the application of rootstocks in practice.

Bachelor thesis titled Rootstock Varieties of Grapevine is systematically focused mainly on the history of breeding of rootstock varieties, while it also mentions the most important historical figures who pursued selecting and breeding of the grapevine and its rootstocks from the Middle Ages until not too distant past. The thesis further describes the pest Phylloxera and the ways it damages the vines. The work delves deeper into the reasons for using grapevine rootstocks from biotic and abiotic point of view, and it also summarizes modern knowledge in this area. The work describes in detail the registered rootstocks grown in the Czech Republic, but mentioned are also rootstocks used in other EU countries. The goal of this thesis is to shine light on the direction of breeding of the newer rootstocks and their uses.
