Comparison of performance characteristics of rabbits on the basis of different feed rations
FUČÍK, Karel
The thesis deals with the problem of breeding rabbits without breed affiliation in pet breeding. It follows the technology of breeding, reproduction and fattening. Diffe-rent diets were used during fattening, with one group of eight individuals fed fresh forage and another group of individuals, of the same number, fed dry forage. Both groups were fed adlibitum with the same dose of complete feed mixture added daily (to supply the necessary vitamins and minerals for proper functioning of the orga-nism). The monitored individuals were weighed once a week and the data obtained were evaluated. The main objective of this thesis was to assess whether feeding fresh green forage or dry forage has an effect on selected nutritional indicators of meat quality. In addition, weight gain and health status of the studied animals were monitored.

Vliv technologie ustájení králíků na jatečnou hodnotu
Žáková, Ludmila
The aim of the diploma thesis was to evaluate the influence of rabbit housing technology on slaughter value. Two experimental groups of rabbits were compared. One group of rabbits was reared in outdoor rabbit hutches, and the other group was reared in a free housing regime. During the fattening period of both groups of rabbits, body length, ear length and weight were measured, all at two-week intervals. After slaughter, individual parts of the JUT were weighed, a sample was taken in the form of one pelvic limb and submitted for laboratory analysis within 24 hours after slaughter. After processing the results of the experiment, it was found that rabbits from the free housing method showed a better average daily gain. On the contrary, as regards the proportion of protein in rabbit meat, a higher value was achieved for rabbits in the pen housing system.
Zhodnocení reprodukčních schopností králíků chovaných ve vybraném drobnochovu
Bakošová, Aneta
The bachelor´s thesis deals with evaluation of reproductive indicators of selected breeds of rabbits. In the literary review, origin of domestic rabbit, biological characteristics and reproduction, were described. In the practical part of the work were described two selected breeds of domestic rabbits. It was about czech spot and californian rabbit. Their reproductive properties were evaluated and compared with each other. Compared results of both breed do not differ at all. Californian rabbit had higher number of weaned offsprings and shorter length of pregnancy. Czech spot had better weight gain and longer length of pregnancy.
Jatečná výtěžnost českého albína v porovnání s hybridním plemen králíků
ČERMÁK, Tomáš
The bachelor's thesis is focused on the comparison of the slaughter yield of rabbits in the conditions of small-scale farming and large-scale farming. The research part is devoted to issues related to the breeding and rearing of rabbits. In the following chapters, the factors influencing the slaughter yield, the breeding of hybrid rabbit breeds and the breeding of the Czech albino are characterized. The final part of the research specifies the composition of the basic feed ration and points out the possi-bilities of using different types of feed in large-scale and small-scale farming. The methodology of the bachelor's thesis compares the slaughter yield of Czech albino depending on the housing technology and the use of alfalfa addition to the complete feed mixture in a rabbit farm in comparison with the slaughter yield of Hyplus rabbits bred in a large farm in Kokořov.
Zhodnocení reprodukce u vybraných plemen králíků
Vaňkátová, Eliška
The bachelor's thesis entitled „Evaluation of the reproduction of selected breeds of rabbits“ deals with the reproductive indicators of rabbits. In the literary review, description of the origin, domestication, significance, biological characteristics and reproduction of the domestic rabbit were described. In the practical part of the work were described two selected breeds of rabbits, namely the breeds Vienna Blue and Burgundy. Their reproductive properties were evaluated and then compared with each other. The results showed that the reproductive characteristics do not differ much between the selected breeds.
External hereditary defects in the domestic rabbit
MRÁZOVÁ, Veronika
The goal of this diploma thesis was to clarify the anatomy and evaluation of the exterior of the rabbit, the individual external hereditary defects that this di-ploma thesis focused on and the issue of genetics and breeding on the basis of infor-mation from available literature and scientific resources. On the basis of this information, be assembled a questionnaire, which was presented to breeders over the course of several months. On the basis of 122 responses, be subsequently found that breed-ers most often encounter malocclusion (overgrown teeth), hypospadias (cleft penis), cryptorchidism (undescended testicle(s)) and buphthalmia (underdeveloped tear ca-nals in one or both eyes, with a range of manifestations). On the contrary, it was found that hobby breeders very infrequently encounter alopecia (local or general hair loss) and limb luxation (dislocation of the thoracic or pelvic limbs). In the conclusion of this diploma thesis, the collective results were also used as a basis to calculate the statistical estimate of potential numbers of individuals suffering from a specific defect. These numbers were calculated on the basis of the most recent census of rabbits owned by hobby breeders in 2020, which took place under the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture. The Ministry stated that in 2020 there were 4,680,000 rabbits in the Czech Republic. The current potential incidence of malocclusion was calculated as being 261, 062 individuals, for hypospadias the number was 157,136, for cryptorchidism the number was 78,984, for buphthalmia it was 79,815, and for alopecia and limb luxation the numbers were 59,861 and 18,291 respectively. The potential incidence of defects was collectively estimated at 655,149 rabbits, which is 14.1 % of the total population in this country. A possible solution to this situation was proposed in conclusion. Breeders should particularly focus on greater awareness regarding monitored and also other external hereditary defects and illnesses, so that these defects and illnesses can be identified on time and appropriately and such individuals can be eliminated from the gene pool. Breeders should also avoid inbreeding if they do not have sufficient professional or practical experience in relation to this issue.
Návrh standardu plemene králíka Miniature Lop a porovnání metod šlechtění
ČERMÁKOVÁ, Monika
The main topic of this diploma thesis is the rabbit breed Miniature Lop, which is not yet recognized in the Czech Republic. Miniature Lop was bred in Great Britain, where the breed standard was accepted in 1994. Standard breeds have been also accepted by other European countries. The aim of this work was to design a breeding standard to correspond foreign standards. Another goal was to evaluate the situation of this breed in the Czech Republic and describe the various breeding methods. The data were processed through the Survio online questionnaire and through the creation of tables in MS Excel, which were sent to a total of ten Czech breeders. Graphs and tables were made in Apple Numbers. The first import of the Miniature Lop breed from Great Britain took place in 2017. The number of breeders dedicated to this breed is increasing. At the same time, the number of imported individuals to the Czech Republic is growing. As by March 31, 2022, a total of 86 individuals had been imported from abroad. A total of 26 animals were marked with the B.R.C. ring. The majority of individuals, a total of 62 %, came from Great Britain. Slovakia, Germany, Hungary, Poland and Austria followed. The individuals for whom the name of the original breeder was mentioned came from a total of 30 different foreign breeders. The rabbits were imported in a total of 51 colours. The most widely imported colour was Seal Point. Most imported individuals weighed in the range of 1,400-1,500 g. The weight of the does was on average higher, ranging from 1,300 to 1,900 g. Bucks usually weighed between 1,200-1,600 g. Additional data were found from a total of 65 litters of 268 kittens on March 1, 2022. The average number of kittens in the litter was 4.12. The average proportion of peanuts in the litter was 10.07 %. Of the total number of kittens, including peanuts, 63.80 % survived to weaning. The deaths of kittens during birth to weaning occurred in 26.11 %. Almost a quarter of all kittens were used by other breeders of the Czech Republic. A total of 2.23% of kittens were exported to foreign breeders. A breed standard was designed and individual breeding methods were described.
Účinek suplementace anorganické formy selenu u králíků
VODIČKOVÁ, Lucie
Selenium is one of the most important microelements in the animal organism which acts through selenoproteins. However, both lack and excess have an negative impact on the organism. In this bachelor thesis we focused on the effect of supplementation of the inorganic form of selenium (sodium selenite). The experiment was performed on 18 rabbits of the chinchilla breed at the age of 7-10 months. The rabbits were divided into 3 groups (3 males, 3 females). The control group received the compound feed without added selenium. Group E1 received a feed ration with the addition of selenium at 0,15 mg per kg of dry matter and group E2 with the addition of 4,3 mg per kg of dry matter. In this experiment we deal with the influence of the inorganic form of selenium on the total weight of rabbits and selected organs (liver, kidneys, muscle), the influence of selenium supplementation on its content in these organs and also the influence on selenium content in rabbit blood serum and its effect on blood parameters. The results of our experiment showed histopathological changes only in group E2 in three individuals (50%). In two cases (33%), there were isolated small lymphocytic infiltrates in the interstitium and in one case (17%) the initial phase of glomerulonephrosis. No histological changes were found in the muscle tissue in either case.
