The Dual World in Fairy Tales of Jan Drda and Jan Werich
HOJKOVÁ, Nikola
The aim of this work is to compare fairy tale collections České pohádky by Jan Drda and Fimfárum from the work of Jan Werich. First part describes the general development of fairy tale, characteristics of traditional folk fairy tale and characteristics of author's fairy tale. Subsequently, the thesis is focused on the magic fairy tale which is the closest type to the traditional folklore fairy tale. Emphasis is placed on particular attributes of folk fairy tale (uncertainty of place and time, magic formulas, magic numbers, etc.), which create a theoretical basis for the comparison of both fairy tale books. The actual comparison of the above-mentioned books is then in the final chapter, which describes in detail how both authors used the elements of folk fairy tale and how they modified and enriched them.

Kolomazníková, Hana ; Šmahelová, Hana (advisor) ; Heczková, Libuše (referee)
This paper deals with the fairy tales by Karel Čapek. In the first part, we mention the historical context: the interest in fairy tales, including the fights for fairy tales. We also deal with the anthology Nůše pohádek and its importance for the development of modern fairy tales. We further describe the place that the fairy tales have in Čapek's 1920s works and we analyze Čapek's fairy-tale-theory, which was presented in his theoretical essays. In the second part of this paper, we cope with Karel Čapek's fairy tales specifically, namely with their motives and style. Our aim is to show, why they are considered as untraditional.
