There are several method of dietary assessment and each method possibly yield different depictions of the diet. Simultaneously, many studies evaluate cormorant impact upon fishery yields without taking account of some important ecological factors essential for such evaluation. One of crucial factors is a fish-community composition of particular waterbodies. But its evaluation is methodically exacting and many biases can emerge, depending on particular method. Its also time-and-money-consuming to evaluate fish-community composition and thus authors, who take it into consideration, often use unverifiable local organizations data. Such data should not be in base of discussions about cormorant impact upon natural fish populations. Since ecological background is too complex, general principles of cormorants impact is ambiguous so far. It is important to do more studies with more accurate fish-community composition data.
