Vrobelová, Šárka
This bachelor thesis focuses on central bank independence and its measuring. The goal of the thesis is evaluating the state of independence of the central banks of the Visegrad Group countries. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the basic concepts related to central banking and the independence of central banks. Furthermore, three possible methods of calculating the independence of central banks are presented, namely the GMT index method, the Cukierman index method and the Loungani-Sheets index method. In the empirical part, the individual central banks of the Visegrad Group countries are described using the description method. Next individual central banks are compared according to the selected criteria in the next step using the comparison method. Furthermore, the independence rates of the individual central banks of the Visegrad Group countries are calculated according to the GMT index and the Loungani-Sheets index. This is followed by a focus on the development of independence over time, namely the degree of independence at the beginning of the transformation and at present, as of 15 April 2022. The most independent central bank, according to the GMT index, is currently the National Bank of Poland, followed jointly by the Czech National Bank and National Bank of Hungary and finally National Bank of Slovakia. Within the Loungani-Sheets index, National Bank of Poland currently finished the best, followed by the National Bank of Hungary, the Czech National bank in third place and the National Bank of Slovakia in last place.

Kvalita inflačných prognóz vybraných centrálnych bánk EÚ
Frantová, Martina
The diploma thesis analyzes the quality of inflation forecasts of central banks of Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Hungary, Germany and Poland, aiming to iden-tify differences in the quality of forecasting models using Ordinary Least Squares and quality criteria, namely mean error, mean squared error and Theil index. The first part deals with the construction of price indexes, description of basis of infla-tion dynamics, together with approaches to monetary policy, emphasizing the im-portance of inflation targeting and the process of constructing forecast using forecasting models, the presentation of which is also part of the thesis. The analysis confirmed the assumption that the quality of forecasts is deteriorating with increasing horizon, while the forecast can be considered as informative only one year, or maximum five quarters in advance. In the long term, the quality of forecasts is very low and economic operators should not rely on them. The results show that extensive model of Nation bank of Germany, MEMMOD, achieves the most reliable results, and on the other hand the lowest reliability is shown by the Hungarian NEM.

Nezávislost a monetární politika centrálních bank zemí V4: vývoj vztahu mezi mírou inflace a nezaměstnanosti
Hykš, Dominik
The central bank's independence from the government and politicians is one of the key aspects of the proper functioning of monetary policy. With monetary policy, the central bank seeks to achieve its goals. The main goal of most central banks is to maintain price stability, and if this does not jeopardize the main goal, the central bank can also help other economic goals, including reducing unemployment. The dynamics of the price level is expressed in the inflation rate, and the relationship between inflation and unemployment is called the Phillips curve. In my bachelor thesis I dealt with the development of inflation, unemployment, monetary policy and independence of central banks in the V4 countries in the years 1993-2020. Based on a search of the literature, I presented methods examining the independence of central banks and the relationship between inflation and unemployment. Then I analyzed the development of annual inflation rates and monetary policy in individual countries. Subsequently, I used regression analysis to apply the traditional Phillips curve in each country and put the results into a scatter graph. I summarized the results and at the end of the thesis I attached tables with data, a list of graphs and the used literature.

The first part focuses on the study of the context and problems while implementing negative interest rates. The second part consists of an analysis of the effects of the negative interest rates on economy and economic activity of business sector in chosen countries. In the last part the influence of the negative interest rates on the economic activity of the business sector is quantified using a regression analysis. On the basis of the results from all analyzes the monetary politics using negative interest rates were found inefficient due to the wrong functioning of the transmission mechanism and to the high dependence on economic development in foreign countries.
