Health Hazard Assessment of Factors of Work-Related Conditions in Sugar Beet Processing Facility
KŮRA, Tomáš
The aim of the bachelor thesis was to evaluate the health risks of working conditions factors of certain facility. The other objective of this thesis was to propose preventive measures to protect health when working and to categorize individual works. In the case of sugar beet processing equipment there are two risk factors. The employees are affected by the risk factors of noise and psychological burden. Three research questions were established: 1. Which of the working environment factors dominates? 2. Do the risk operation activities predominate? 3. Is the level of working environment factors over limits? This thesis was prepared using qualitative research methodology, particularly secondary analysis of data which is based on the study of literature, legislation and vocational background to this issue. Also the observation methodology was used, concretely disinterested and obvious observation. In the theoretical part I focused on risk factors which occur in the sugar beet processing equipment and on the assessment of health risks. Then I focused on the technology of sugar production. In the practical part I assessed the health risks of selected work environment factors. The evaluation was carried out according to the procedures set out in Government Regulation No. 272/2011 Coll. and in Government Regulation No. 361/2007 Coll., as amended. I compared the measurement results with the health limits set out in Government Regulation No. 272/2011 Coll., which sets the safe limits for noise and vibration. After comparing with hygienic limits I ranked the individual professions in categories according to Decree No. 432/2003 Coll., as amended. Based on the practical part the above-mentioned research questions were answered. Noise is the dominant factor in the working environment in the sugar beet processing equipment. We mean the noise which is variable. Technological facilities are the source of noise. Risky works occur in the mentioned devices but do not predominate in the operation. The level of the noise factor in the work environment is above the limit for certain professions. These include the following professions: sugar beet equipment operation, roots lines operation, operation of washing machines, cutting machines operation, operation of centrifuges and brewer. The factor of psychological load was evaluated according to specified criteria. Given that this is a seasonal job in the winter, the positives outweigh the negative effects of mental stress factor. Currently, when the unemployment rate rises, people appraise for each job opportunity. This Bachelor's thesis can be used in practice to raise awareness of the health risks connected with working conditions influences in the sugar beet processing equipment. It can serve as a source of information for both employers and employees and also provide a basis for further research.
Sanitary issues of dust nuisance in smelting works
NAVRÁTIL, Jakub
In the environment of smelting works we meet many risky factors endangering the health of employees. Due to the excessive exposure to these risks, employees may suffer from many health problems. Many aspects play an important role in the rise of these problems. They are, for example, fitness and individual performance, ability to adapt, age, sex and etc. Dust is one of the most important factors affecting the organism of each employee during the job at smelting works. My Bachelor´s Thesis, in its theoretical part, summarizes the basic information about the issues of dust by using available literature. It specifically focuses on the characteristics of this risk, essential knowledge regarding the anatomy of airways, describes effect of dust on an organism and shows related illnesses. The objective of the practical part was to create a hypothesis in the area of risk related to dust nuisance in the smelting works, analyze the health risk of this factor in working conditions and segmentation of jobs into categories. To achieve the objective of the research 3 hypothesis have been set. A method of quality research was selected {--} especially secondary analysis of data. Nine employees together in various work places of chosen smelting works were measured and based on the analyzed data from measuring and examination all 3 hypothesis have been confirmed. The results of the research have shown that concentration of dust with fibrogenous effects in the work place of the smelting works exceeds the limit, work at smelting works is risky, and implemented measures related to health safety at work eliminate the damage to the health of the employees as much as possible. This Bachelor´s thesis can be used to increase the awareness in health related risks at smelting works.
Assessment of the health hazard pertaining to the selected working conditions concerning manufacture of concrete-based products in the selected manufacturing plant
BRULÍK, Petr
In the working environment relating to the manufacture of concrete-based products there are many risk factors that may have a negative impact of the health condition of the employees. Among the most significant factors affecting the organism of every employee involved in the manufacture of concrete-based products there are in particular noise, physical strain, operating position and vibrations. Among these most significant factors, I have concentrated on noise and vibrations in the selected manufacturing plant as the plant was equipped with a new automatic machine where everything is controlled and performed by means of controls and where physical strain or unacceptable working conditions are nearly missing. In the theoretical part of the thesis, I focused on the assessment of health hazard and the relating aspects concerning noise and vibrations and the effect thereof on human organism. The goal of the thesis was to formulate a hypothesis concerning the area of assessment of health hazards pertaining to the selected factors present in the working environment closely related to the working conditions attributable to the manufacture of concrete-based products in the selected manufacturing plant. Three hypotheses were formulated, the assessment of health hazards pertaining to factors relating to the working conditions concerned was performed, the works were classified into the categories prescribed by the applicable legal regulations and the precautionary measures aiming at the protection of the employees at work were proposed. The thesis was based on the application of a qualitative survey, using in particular the secondary data analysis methodology compiling study of specialist information sources, the applicable laws and by-laws and relevant reports. The values obtained by measurement were processed and subsequently compared with the sanitary limits prescribed by the applicable legal regulations. The hypotheses have been proven due to this methodology and the goals have been achieved. It has been confirmed that values exceeding limits imposed by the applicable legal regulations are present in the manufacturing plant concerned. Noise seems to be a more significant risk factor than vibrations here and the proposed precautionary measures should eliminate damage to health of the employees due to the effect of the working conditions concerned. In practice, this thesis can serve for the purpose of improvement of awareness in the area of health hazard arising from working conditions pertaining to manufacture of concrete-based products and improvement of efficiency of the precautionary measures taken.
