Mrázek, Patrik ; Ruda, Tomáš (advisor) ; Krause, Veronika (referee)
Title: Financial literacy at different performance levels in Ice hockey Objectives: The main objective of the thesis is to examine the area of financial literacy among Czech hockey players, especially from the perspective of the relationship between the player and the league in which he plays. How the level of financial literacy differs at different performance levels. The social environment also has a great influence on a person, so the aim of this thesis is also to find out how much the social environment (its parts: education, location and size of the place of residence) influenced individual players in relation to financial literacy. The sub-objectives are to find out if the national teams work with finances and if agents work with their players on this topic. Methods: It is a theoretical-empirical work, more precisely an inquiry. A quantitative research method is used, where the necessary information is obtained by means of a questionnaire survey, which is part of this thesis. Descriptive statistics is used, within it most of all variance and mode. Control and filter questions are also used in the questionnaire to process the results for each league separately. Results: The responses do not clearly indicate whether the level of competition has an impact on an individual's level of financial...
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY IN CZECHIA: SPATIAL ASPECTS AND IMPORTANCE TO REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Fiala, Marek ; Chromý, Pavel (advisor) ; Heřmanová, Eva (referee)
The thesis deals with the topic of corporate social responsibility emphasizing especially its spatial aspects and the impact on regional development. It aims to discover the spatial pattern of the so-called socially responsible firm activities in Czechia including the motivations for choosing this pattern, and to assess the importance of these activities for regional development. Particularly, it aims to present the concept of corporate social responsibility from a geographical point of view. The empirical research using the case of Czechia is structured into two phases. The first phase, based on an extensive research of internet-based sources and a questionnaire survey among selected corporations, explores the institutional context of corporate social responsibility in Czechia and follows the activities of particular firms including their spatial strategies. The second phase, using intensive research in two Czech micro- regions (Broumovsko and Červenokostelecko), particularly in-depth interviews with representatives of selected firms, provides deeper insight into the topic, reveals the motivations of firm behavior regarding social responsibility and sheds light upon the importance of these activities for development of the respective region. The thesis proved direct connection between geography and...
Migration, foreigners and the city: socio-spatial differentiation and local social environment
Přidalová, Ivana ; Ouředníček, Martin (advisor) ; Drbohlav, Dušan (referee) ; Mulíček, Ondřej (referee)
1 Abstract Migration has been an inherent part of population development, and due to its role in shaping settlement system and societal changes also one of the key research interests of social geography. Due to the political regime and the limited movement across state borders, attention was predominantly given to internal migration in Czechia in the second half of the 20th century. Conversely, international migration has only been coming to the fore of academic debate since the 1990s. Despite the broad diversity of aspects of international migration in Czechia and the fact that the city has traditionally been the environment associated with the majority of immigrant population, little consideration has been given to the deeper understanding of the relationship between international migration, the presence of foreign citizens and the urban environment, especially foreigners' influence on socio-spatial differentiation and on social environment of particular urban locales. Czechia is a specific case: a country which was isolated from international migration for four decades became one of the main immigration countries in the post-socialist Central Europe after 1989. It represents a unique occasion to investigate the connection between international migration and the city in a previously unexplored environment...
Crime and its perception in urban environment
Jíchová, Jana ; Temelová, Jana (advisor) ; Šiftová, Jana (referee) ; Michálek, Anton (referee)
Jana Jíchová: Crime and its Perception in Urban Environment ABSTRACT Crime is an important social phenomenon that affects many aspects of the functioning of society and the life of every person. It also represents an important interdisciplinary topic that deals with a number of disciplines, including geography. Logically, there is a thematic and methodological overlap; each of the sciences emphasize on different aspects of crime, using various methods and research approaches, interpretations, and therefore contributes to the knowledge of crime differently. The importance of geography is particularly in the enrichment of the crime research on spatial dimension and contributes to its cognition through analysis of the distribution of crime and studies of perception of crime. Although this type of studies is well established in Western crime research, in the Czech geography is paid to them only little attention. This doctoral thesis introduces geography of crime in the Czech context, discusses its theoretical and methodological developments and its applicability and application in our cities.. More emphasis is put on the concept of fear of crime, which constitutes an essential component of feeling of safety affecting daily life, the use of urban space and spatial mobility of individuals. Better understanding of...
Migrants in irregular position - Czechia: a country of destination
Medová, Lenka ; Drbohlav, Dušan (advisor) ; Uherek, Zdeněk (referee) ; Toušek, Václav (referee)
Since the beginning of the 1990s, Europe has been confronted with an increase of irregular migration in connexion to the collapse of the communist regimes. Today, it is estimated that there are from about 2 to 4 million irregular migrants living in the European Union. Most of them take part in local informal economies. Besides traditional immigration countries of Western Europe, the southern European countries have also become a destination region of irregular migration. Recently though, the same can be said about some post- communist European countries, namely Czechia. The dissertation focuses on irregular migration in Czechia. More specifically, it deals with irregularly working migrants in the period preceding the global economic crisis. As there is insufficient level of knowledge of the phenomenon in Czechia, the dissertation delivers empirical material regarding forms and reasons of irregular migration and structure, volume and strategies of irregularly working migrants. These characteristics are framed within the European context. Moreover, from the terminological point of view, the dissertation tries to bypass the limitations of the Czech literature and presents own terminology of the given processes and their actors. Finally, the dissertation aims to contribute to current theoretical and...

Kalinová, Petra ; Janský, Bohumír (advisor) ; Šobr, Miroslav (referee)
Water scarcity is one of the current issues not only in the Czech Republic. Given the fact that drought has hit the territory of the Czech Republic several times recently and also climate change, it is essential for our country to be able to prepare for repeated drought periods. Possibilities for dealing with the drought in the Czech Republic, including examples of concrete measures, as well as other basic information regarding drought in the Czech Republic, are presented in this bachelor's thesis. However, the main goal of this bachelor's thesis is to create a project day on the topic of Water scarcity in the Czech Republic. The creation of the project day is part of the PERUN project, which is focused on climate change and drought and its impact on the territory of the Czech Republic. The project day was verified in practice in the form of a pretest-posttest design, thus confirming its effectiveness and testing the quality of the materials used. In the vast majority of cases, positive trend of increasing correct answers amongst students is visible, and thus the participating students deepened their knowledge regarding this issue. Geographical aspects of electoral support for the populist radical right in Czechia
Cihlář, Pavel ; Lepič, Martin (advisor) ; Suchánek, Jonáš (referee)
The populist radical right parties, along with their political successes in the 21st century, have also gained considerable academic interest. Given the significant geographic variation in support of these parties, the attention is also turning to the geographical aspects of this phenomenon. These aspects are the focus of this thesis. It aims to map the intensity and shape of the clustering of electoral support for the Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) movement in the 2017 and 2021 parliamentary elections and to further examine geographical differences in the explanatory factors of this electoral support. The thesis uses the method of spatial autocorrelation and multiscale geographically weighted regression to achieve these objectives. The statistical units are the municipalities of the Czech Republic, and the explanatory variables are socio-demographic indicators, conceptualized according to three categories of explanatory support for the populist radical right: economic grievances, cultural grievances, and anomie. Particular attention is paid to the theory of anomie, based on theories of mass society and social capital. Earlier analyses of this theory have led to ambivalent results and this thesis tests a potential explanation for this in terms of the geographical non-stationarity of the...
