Old Age as a Phenomenon of Disadvantaged and Suppression of Human Rights and Needs of Women
HOLÁ, Michaela
The method of secondary analysis of data was used in the theoretical part of my diploma thesis. I analysed literary and electronic sources in the way that the result represents the completed view on the old age with its many haracteristic changes, and the view on the life of seniors in their background (in family or an istitution). Consequently, I focused on human rights and needs and their possible suppression in senior population. The main theme of this thesis represents the maltreatment of seniors and ageisms. The practical part is focused on information and their obtaining with the help of a qualitative method. I used the method of interviewing, the technique of half-directed conversation. These were provided by the women at the age of 70-80. The women left the Hospital of České Budějovice maximally 10 days before the interview. The questions looked like the interview with instruction. Five more conrete hypothesis were cretated as a result of the analysis of gained data.

OLIVOVÁ, Leona
This thesis deals with today's trends in aging, health and physical activity. It deals with aging, its manifestation and impact ond human organism, especially considering senior population. The aim of this work is to stress out the importance of activity and of changing of habits of seniors. This work also wants to compare the activities of seniors in their home and in institutional housing in Eastern-Bohemian region. The data was aquired by quatitative research methods, by questioning. Data was collected using questionairy, by controlled interview; it was made for people over 70 years old, living in home and in retirement homes. Basic set was made from seniors (men and women) living in Eastern-Bohemian region. The sets were 100 randomly picked seniors from retirement homes and 100 randomly picked seniors living in home environment. The hypothesis, that was successfully confirmed is stated thus: Seniors are more active in their home environment. Senior living in their home were more active in sports (biking, hiking, walks, swimming) as well as in things concerning house-keeping (heating, cooking, doing the washing). They were more in touch with their family members and did activities with them. Altogether, these seniors were happier. Care for domestic animals also helps with their psyche. Seniors living in retirement homes showed great interest in RHB excercises and free-time activities conducted by the facility. As for the activity itself, retirement home seniors showed a lot less activity. This fact is due to their lifestyle in the retirement home and due to their health. By this work, I would like to address the distinction between these two groups of senior people, not only regarding activity.

The Seniors´ Leisure Time Using in Old People´s Homes after the Legislation Change
KROUPOVÁ, Jitka
Ageing population becomes a world-wide problem of the 21st century. The old age represents changes in physical, psychical and social sphere. The image of {\clqq}successful`` ageing is based mainly on the improvement of life quality and adaptation to old age. Special attention is paid to keeping an active lifestyle, even at an old age. The way of spending free time significantly affects both the mental and the physical state of the seniors. Leisure time of the seniors can be filled up with their private activities or with the activities offered in the homes for seniors. The new Act on Social Services, effective since January 2007, regulates mainly the overall conception and conditions for providing social services. Among other affected subjects, the changes stated in the Act also apply to the homes for seniors, their users and providers. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the problems related to ageing and old age, with special focus on seniors´ free time and their leisure activities. I attempted to tackle the problems from the point of view of the Act on Social Services. The research aim was to find out if the changes related to new legislation influenced leisure activities in the homes for seniors. Reaching this aim was facilitated by the hypothesis saying that the legislation changes (Act no. 108/2006 of the Law Code) did not influence the way of spending free time among the clients in the homes for seniors. To elaborate the practical part I applied quantitative survey based on the technique of controlled interviews with seniors in chosen homes for seniors. As an auxiliary method I applied document analysis, namely the technique of the secondary analysis of data. Controlled interviews were conditioned by the fact that the seniors were clients of the given home, their cognitive functions were not impaired and they were willing to provide the answers. The interviews were anonymous and contained 21 questions each. The research showed that the respondents did not mention any obvious changes in spending their free time which could be related to new legislation, and similarly they did not observe changes in leisure activities provided by the home for seniors. I assume that the initial hypothesis was proved by the research. In my opinion the bachelor thesis could provide the broad public with information on the ways of spending leisure time among the clients in the homes for seniors.
Sexuality in old age
KOSOVÁ, Kateřina
Age and sex are two terms that are not frequently associated with each other. Sexuality is a natural part of human nature, accompanying people throughout their whole lives, still in old age. The elderly are often considered asexual by society, and therefore they feel too shy to speak out about problems they are facing in their sexual lives. In this paper, physiological and psychosocial changes the old age brings about, ailments and sexual dysfunctions that may affect seniors´ sexuality, and myths that make sexuality in old age taboo in society are described. The objective of this thesis was to deal with society´s perception of sexuality in old age. The first sub-objective was to determine how seniors´ sexuality is perceived by students and people at productive age. The second sub-objective was to find out seniors´ attitudes towards sexuality in old age. The survey was conducted using quantitative research, an interrogation method, a semi-directed interviewing technique. The research set was composed of 30 respondents divided into 3 groups. The first group consisted of students, the second was comprised of people in productive age and the third group was formed by seniors. Each group thus included 10 respondents. The research was carried out in the South Bohemian region for four months from mid-January to mid-May 2009. The research results have shown small but very interesting divergences in the approach to sexuality in old age. Seniors accept sexuality in old age better than students and people in productive age. Unlike seniors, a majority of students and people in productive age perceive sexuality in old age as a taboo subject in society. The research has also shown that seniors are satisfied with their sexual lives to the same extent as students are. Generally this issue is perceived in society with some embarrassment, but positively. This thesis could improve society´s awareness of sexuality in old age, break a social taboo and make it easier for seniors to enjoy their intimate lives. Furthermore, the survey could be beneficial for students and related professionals.
