Sustainable development - reality, problems and prospects, with particular attention to the cities
Suchá, Michaela ; Jeníček, Vladimír (advisor) ; Abrhám, Josef (referee)
The topic of the thesis is sustainable development, specifically sustainable development of urban systems. It is a very topical theme, the cities are currently home to more than half of the population of the entire planet and mostly cities contribute to the environmental pollution deterioration, the distortion of the ecological balance of our planet and cause serious global problems. The work consists of four chapters. The first three chapters constitute the theoretical basis for the last practical part. The first chapter introduces the concept of sustainable development in general, its history, definitions, issues and indicators of sustainable development principles. In the second and third chapter I analyze the sustainable urban development. On the basis of theoretical knowledges, chapters create the hypothesis according to which should be set up two different concepts of sustainable urban development considering differences between the cities of developed and developing countries. The final chapter analyzes the strategies of selected cities, Mexico and Freiburg, how to achieve sustainable urban development with respect to different methods of developing and developed country.
Ecology and activity of mesic Afrotropic mole-rats
LÖVY, Matěj
This Ph.D. thesis focuses on the ecology and activity of mesic Afrotropic mole-rats. In particular, ecological characteristics in habitats of two mole-rat species with different social system, the solitary Heliophobius argenteocinereus and social Fukomys whytei, were analysed in an area of sympatry and the results are discussed in relation with available ecological data on other species. Two studies bring to light novel data on the ecology and behaviour of the free-living largest social bathyergid, the giant mole-rat Fukomys mechowii, especially in relation to ecological characteristics in its natural habitat, burrow system architecture, kin structure and spatial and temporal activity patterns. In the final study, new data on the field metabolism of the silvery mole-rat H. argenteocinereus are presented. These new findings are discussed in further detail and expand upon existing explanations for low resting metabolism in subterranean rodents and the differences in field metabolism in relation to seasonality of habitat.
Ecology of butterflies traditionally managed submontane meadows
ZIMMERMANN, Kamil
The persistence of Marsh fritillary (Euphydryas aurinia) and its relationships with five other closly related and co-occuring Nymphalidae butterflies was studied in identical habitat networks. Basic demography and dispersal patterns, and their consequences for conservation strategies, were investigated across mutliple sites and seasons.
Biology of the Root-Parasitic Rhinanthoid Orobanchaceae
TĚŠITEL, Jakub
Evolution, physiology and ecology of root-parasitic Rhinanthoid Orobanchaceae was investigated with special emphasis on understanding biology of hemiparasitism. The research was based on a wide range of methods including molecular hylogenetics, cultivation experiments, stable isotope analysis, electron icroscopy, geometric morphometrics and flow-cytometry.
Mapping the banks of the Želivka river within the framework of studying ecological invasions and invasive species \kur{I. glandulifera} and \kur{I. parviflora}
URBAN, Miroslav
The aim of the study was to study the invasion ecology and the to study the invasion of two species of the genus Impatiens, namely I. glandulifera and I. parviflora. I then chose the right bank of the Želivka river in the Czech-Bohemian highlands to study and survey the plant association and population of two mentioned species. Consequently I focused my study on the river biotope and the role of invasive species in it. Further I have worked up a research summary on the ecology of the invasion and the role of the above mentioned species in the riparian biotopes.

The creation of the class educational plan
HAVLOVÁ, Petra
This Bachelor´s Thesis deals with the creation of class educational plan for the form with ecological aim. The Thesis consists of theoretical and partical part and attachments. Thesis theoretical part covers general creation of school and class plans, projects, ecological education and its fundion in nursery school. It also deals with the importance of bees for preservation of life on the Earth. This part works with professional literature. A year - long project is designed and partly realized in the practical part. The year - long projects tries to explain life and importance of bees to preschool children in comparison with children´s life in class. The whole project is guided by fairytale about Small Queen Bee. The last part contains attachments and photographic materials.
The Development of Art Creativity in Older-school-age Children in Pedagogy of Free Time in Respect to Interdisciplinary Interferences (Environmental Education)
BŘEZINOVÁ, Marie
The bachelor{\crq}s thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with the terms: creativity, creative person, adolescence, free time education and pedagogy of experience. It introduces the circumstances of the pedagogical process. It analyzes the term ``art{\crqq} and its role in human{\crq}s life. It introduces the role and the function of creative, esthetic and ecological education during the development of the adolescent{\crq}s creativity. The theoretical part of the thesis is based on the professional literature and on theoretical knowledge of this theme. In the practical part, the knowledge is applied to work with a concrete group of adolescents. It shows the use of theoretical base and experiences gained during preparation and carrying out creative activities that should lead to the development of social abilities and to reestablishing the relationship to nature.
Possibilities and Overlaps of the Traditional FolkAarchitecture as an Inspiration for the Environmentally Friendly Architecture Today
KURINCOVÁ, Marie
The work deals with the possibility of use the traditional knowledges and methods in construction with regards to today's lifestyle and technology, emphasizes the importance of the legacy, respect for countryside, individuality and surrounding environment. Above all I try to summarize the information about the current situation in architecture of family houses, which influence dominates in this area and which choices we have. I target especially the organic architecture mainly for wood constructions. At the beginning of the work I describe the issues of present architecture. I am dealing with the question if traditional and modern way of life must be in conflict, how we change our environment today and what could be the eventual effects for the future. The second part of the work is focused on the traditional vernacular architecture in South Bohemia, especially in the Bohemian Forest (Šumava) region, on types of construction, use and processing of materials and their integration into the countryside. The final part is applied to present ecology architecture. Firstly I summarize and identify the objects in general, subsequently I focus on the wood constructions, which correspond to traditional knowledge and experience in the manufacture and processing of wood.
Origin of sociality in mongooses (\kur{Carnivora, Herpestidae})
MICHÁLKOVÁ, Jana
The origin, evolutionary polarity and possible causes of sociality in Herpestidae (Carnivora) are not clear. In this study, I compiled data matrix of 48 ontogenetic, reproductive, ecological and behavioural characters of mongooses. I used parsimonny optimization of the character states onto phylogenetic tree for reconstruction of the ancestral condition , and I examined the role of ecological factors and changes in body mass in social evolution in mongooses.
