Navigation systems and GIS for the use of regional fire service
JIŘÍČEK, Tomáš
The Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic (FRS CR) performs numerous activities related to protection of lives, health and property of inhabitants. Navigation systems and geographic information systems belong to invaluable aids in ensuring these priorities. This bachelor thesis deals with the Integrated Rescue System, the Fire Rescue Service of the CR and its duties, with the importance of operation centres, which form an important part of the FRS CR and come to the closest contact with these systems in performing their duties. The thesis also describes navigation systems in general, their classification and specifics. Geographic information systems, their main components etc. are described similarly here. The thesis also deals with information transfer technologies, particularly those used by the operation and information centres for data communication with intervention vehicles. Further part of the thesis deals with navigation systems, but focuses directly on implementation of these systems for the needs of the FRS CR. The research was based on evaluation of questionnaires that had been sent to the individual regional fire brigades. The navigation systems used by firemen in their vehicles were compared there. Tracking systems, which are indispensable and particularly beneficial to OICs are also mentioned in the thesis. GPRS signal coverage, without which communication between operation centre systems and navigation and tracking systems of operating intervention vehicles would be impossible, is also dealt with. Last but not least the thesis describes the geographic information systems used by the FRS CR, their functions and applicability. In the next part it deals with specification of drawbacks in this field.
