This work is dealing with the design for maintaining and monitoring optimal temperature for home-based data center. The purpose of this work is to prolong the life of hard drives in data center for as long as possible. First of all, the attention is given to establishing what the optimal temperature for maintaining long-live of hard drives is and how to correctly measure it. Based on the knowledge obtained from theory and from the prototype testing the final design of embedded system for maintaining this function is created.

This thesis is focused on optimization of data reading from distributed NoSQL database Apache HBase with regards to the desired data granularity. The assignment was created as a product request from Seznam.cz, a.s. the Reklama division, Sklik.cz cost center to improve user experience by making filtering of aggregated statistical data available to advertiser web application users for the purpose of viewing entity performance history.

Cloud computing - comparison of cloud storages

This thesis deals with the utilization of cloud computing in the field of online data storages for storing and backing up of user data. After defining the target group and its requirements for the service, ten most suitable options from the total set of cloud storages were selected. Selected storages were subsequently tested and analyzed in order to be used in the next stage of thesis. Materials for multicriterial analysis of options were created on the basis of set criteria and their given or measured values. The most appropriate options were calculated by application of the aforementioned mathematical method. These options were then evaluated and described from the viewpoint of commissioning.

The thesis also includes practical suggestions to improve the current situation, thus making it more adequate for the needs of contemporary legislation, employees and equipment. The thesis also contains a theoretical basis, employing it to develop solutions to the problems.
