What is the Internet Language Guide and how to work with it

The Internet Language Guide (ILG) was made accessible in January 2009. In creating it, the linguists of the Institute of the Czech Language (ICL) built on their experience of the language advising. This public service belongs to notable activities of the ICL. The dictionary part of the ILG contains more than 82 000 entries at present, the explanatory part focuses mainly on the phenomena which repeatedly are the subject of questions of the Czech language users. At the beginning of 2014, the ILG was interconnected with the Dictionary of the Literary Czech Language (more than 192 000 entries) and with the Dictionary of Literary Czech for School and Public (approx. 48 000 entries).

To the Names of Pubs, Inns, Taprooms and Dives

On the material collected for the Dictionary of Moravian nad Silesian anoikonyms, the author pays attention to the names of pubs and inns on the territory of Moravia and Silesia. In the first part of the article, she lists some frequently used common names for a pub (hospoda, hostinec, šenk, krčma, pajzl) together with their short etymologies; in the second part she sorts the collected names into semantic groups according to their motivations.
