ANNOTATION Thepresentdoctoral thesis explorestheEuropeanParliament as theonlyonedirectlyelectedinstitutionoftheEuropean Union as taughtwithintheeducationalsubject "Education to citizenship". Theintroductorypartsofthedoctoral thesis engage in thehistoricalcontextofintegrationoftheEuropean Union and formationoftheParliamentaryAssembly ECSC. Thefollowingchaptersexaminetheissueofthefirst direct electionintotheEuropeanParliament, itsformation, development and reasonswhytheEuropeans' interest to vote in the said transnational institution is on the decline. To furtherclarifycircumstancesofEuropeanelections in the Czech Republic, oneofthechaptersinvestigates these problems. Theother part ofthedoctoral thesis provides a viewintothe Czech curricularreform, whichsupportstheEuropeandimension in education and thepositionoftheEuropeanParliament in lessonsoftheeducationalsubject "Education to citizenship". Theconcluding part analyses a questionnairesurvey in whichteachersoftheeducationalsubject "Education to citizenship" forsecondaryschools in theSouth Bohemian region participated. Thedoctoral thesis isbased on national and foreignliterature and otherdocumentarysources.
Transport of Germans from the region of Nové Hrady

The present diploma thesis examines the period from the end of the World War II and the deportation of Germans with the emphasis on the region of Nové Hrady. The introductory parts delve into the historical context of the events that led to the utter ruin of Czech and German relations in the territory of Czechoslovakia. The central part of the diploma thesis focuses on the problems of the resettlement of Germans in the territory of the Czech Lands and the region of Nové Hrady, together with the issue of Beneš decrees, which were discussed within the European Union. The conclusion of the diploma thesis outlines the process of a new colonization of the region of Nové Hrady as well as the fate of prominent personalities of the said region. The diploma thesis derives from the study of national and regional literature, archive resources and interviews conducted with eyewitnesses.
